On this cloudy Tuesday, all is largely well around these parts, not heard back from Zyxel yet, but they did say, 24-48 for email responses so still can't access the user interface on my modem/router with wireless LAN that I replaced on Saturday. I did read up on downloading apps to the phone via computer and a USB cable, generally not recommended and someone had asked about this and wanted to do that as he didn't have a wireless router, Someone responded that being without one will make things difficult to download stuff to one's phone, and that decent wireless routers can be had for as little as $20, and thus had a thought and that is if getting this modem to let me into its user interface fails, I may just do that if need be. However, I just now tried a couple of passwords, one being a key phrase that DID work, so my phone can access my home wireless! it's locked which is good for security, came that way. However, it would be loverly if I can access the user settings to make changes and monitor the speed etc so still not totally out of the woods there.

Had difficulty logging into my Mint Credit Monitoring, and got that solved and part of that was my password was written down wrong. That is, I had it as all caps and a three digit #, when all it was, was ONLY the first letter was capitalized.

So once the log in screen times out and unlocks, I will try again. Also, I received a piece of mail with a pin #, wonder if this is a new chipped debit card? I know all banks are to have issued all their customers with new chipped debit and credit cards before October by law, however the ATM machines technically have another year to make the change, though I wished they had been required to make the change along with the cards, thus the burden now shifts to retail outlets to make the change to readers that can read the chips, this chip is very similar to what is used for SIM cards to help reduce card fraud, though it won't totally do that as computer databases can still be hacked, but I think there is a race on that front by many an this will help reduce credit and debit card thefts.

I had not heard anything about when they'll be doing it, but it could be just that. I will just wait and see over the next couple of days as that's customary for all debit cards.

Anyway, still love my new phone, and the OtterBox case and holster I bought for it even though it makes the phone clunkier than it really is. It makes it easier to hold, and the holster is great and makes it easier to carry since naked, it just fits in my front pocket, but can be a touch long when I bend over as it kind of digs into my hip and the case makes it easier to hold without slipping out of one's hand. If I need to get gussied up, I can easily remove it and stick it in my jacket pocket and it'll look classy enough for such endeavors. Took me a couple of days to get the hang of removing the phone from the holder, and the trick is grasp the sides and using my large finger, push on the top right corner (phone worn horizontally) to release that corner and it releases easily after that. So it is easy to remove and put back in its holster and having a kickstand is very nice as I can set it up for a nice viewing angle when needed, and is great when listening to music through the loudspeaker on the phone.

Also, I discovered that there is an app to allow one to control their camera with it, and to use it as an extension monitor, and with the right app, even will allow for time laps photography, something my Nikon D90 lacks internally. There is an accessory controller for such things, and it is a wired USB Mini A jack, I think and costs around $40 or so. This app is free, or a paid version is just a nominal fee, and can be used wirelessly, or wired through a USB On the Go cable and a standard USB cable tethering the phone to the camera, reviews say, this latter method reduces potential lagging when trying to control the camera. This is why many of us went with Android as it is becoming more and more possible to use our phones as a tool in many aspects of our lives, outside of just being a phone.

Before I go, just checked my credit monitoring, and the scores are the same as early May, just a new notice indicating new account/card to replace the one BECU had to close due to a breach on my credit card, and yes, it's chipped, so the pin I did get may be for a new chipped debit card. I will be setting up tap and pay as my phone supports it, just need to download the appropriate software however.
