With fall having fallen as of Saturday, the weather now is more fall like already even though Sunday was pleasant and topped out at 83F. Yesterday, we hit I think 73, today, the weather people forecasted 69, well, we apparently only hit 67 in Seattle, with highish humidity as it remained mostly cloudy with spittles of rain. Now, it's full on rain and around 63F at quarter to 11pm.
Caught this photo at about 6:44pm since sunset is just now after 7pm.
Taken from my balcony, as usual.
Other than that, a great day overall. Got my haircut this morning as it was SO needed, and then headed up to the store to get cash so I could pay the barber for his services all because their credit card machine was down. Hit the BECU branch in the Broadway Market and got the requisite cash and on my way back down to the barber shop, I stopped by a store called Spin it Again on Broadway and stopped in to see if they had any Zappa, specifically a copy of an early Frank Zappa LP was after, and yes, they did. Uncle Meat, and 2 copies of it, one with the booklet, and one without. Since their test table wad broken, I had to go on a hunch that the booklet was the original copy. It was also a tad more expensive at $50. The non booklet copy was I think $30, so bought the stickered copy with the booklet, which was with the album, and it was in great, clean shape despite the ring wear on the front of the cover. This is a 2 LP set Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention released in 1969 by Bizarre records, released via Reprise.
Upon research, it turns out what I bought was indeed the ORIGINAL copy from 1969 as far as I can tell. Apparently, it typically sells for MORE than what I paid for it. Apparently, they did offer a version of the LP with the actual orange Reprise label, and a tri colored variant as well when it initially came out, but not with the booklet however.
This store also had 2, count 'em two copies of Freak Out on vinyl too, one is listed as being a 2nd pressing, the other does not say anything, and was ONLY $40 on the original Verve label, and is stereo if I recall. If there next month, I'll get that too.
So here is Uncle Meat on glorious vinyl.
True to the advertisement, it's clean, outside of the typical bits of paper dust causing the occasional click or pop.
It's as I remember it from 30 years ago nearly.
Outside of that, cleaned up the kitchen, and posted to Tapeheds.net and that's been it, outside of being out and about twice today.
