Baby Bliss
chapter 9:
Mao slowly opens her eyes and gently rubs her eyes. She then saw the ring on her finger and a smile slowly crept on her lips. She was now officially Mrs. Matsumoto. Yesterday Jun’s sister suddenly called and informed them that the papers were already done and they could get married anytime. Good things it was his day off and Of course Jun being excited and all decided to make it official that day without her and his parents knowing it. They were already adults anyway.
“So everything’s okay now” Mariko, Jun’s sister said triumphantly. They were eating at this posh restaurant that she chose, Jun and Mao would rather go back home and celebrate there but she insisted that they eat outside. Mao was still not used to people seeing them together “You’re my sister-in-law as of today!” she smiles at Mao.
“Oh my I haven’t informed my parents yet!” says Mao who suddenly remembers that one important thing.
“No need to do that, Mao. One representative is already enough and we’ll just inform them later” says Mariko while looking at Mao’s brother. “Right?”
Yusuke looks at her and then goes back on eating his steak. Mao sensed that her brother is still not happy with what has happened. He was totally against the idea of her getting married at such a young age. He had told her that she needs to rethink about her decisions and it is definitely okay if she’ll just return home. She doesn’t need to work Yususke told her.
It was really awkward for Jun, he knows that her brother hates him. He had tried to talk to him but he’ll just make up some excuse and leave. Mao told him to give him some time that he’ll soon accept him.
“We’ll visit mom and dad soon” Mao said as she kisses her brother goodbye. “I’ll call them tomorrow morning’ she said realizing what time it is already.
“Take care of yourself okay and also the babies” Yusuke smiles at her while patting her head.
“Call me if Jun won’t be able to make it to your next appointment” Mariko butts in as she quickly hugs her then hugs Jun also.
Mao nods her head.
“Go inside the car now it’s freezing cold here” Mariko said while she runs to her car.
“I’ll visit you when I have time” Yusuke finally said as he also gets on his car.
Both Jun and Mao also went back home after their dinner. She was already exhausted and as soon as they reached their apartment she immediately collapses on the bed.
“Jun!” she calls out when she realized that he was not beside her. She pushes herself up. It was already hard for her to stand up and it’s just her sixth month. She never thought that it’ll be this hard.
She calls his name again as she went out of the bedroom and went into the kitchen. There she saw him clad in an apron preparing breakfast. “You’re early” she said as she takes a peak at what he’s doing “Cant’ sleep?”
“I thought you’ll be hungry when you wake up so I decided to cook something” he answers still busy with the dish he’s trying to prepare.
“How sweet!” Mao tiptoes and kisses his cheeks. “You still don’t have work today?”
Jun faces her and planted a soft kiss on her lips “Yup. I’ll be your slave for the next two days” he winks at her.
“Really?”
After they have finished breakfast Jun told her to just relax and let him do all the chores. Jun insisted on hiring a maid because he can see that she’s already having a hard time moving around but Mao refused saying that she’ll do all the cleaning but now she’s having second thoughts of that idea already.
“Do you know Keiko?” he asked when he returns from the kitchen to get some grapes. It’s been her favorite food for the past months already. They were sitting on the sofa just watching some movie.
“Keiko?” says Mao as she gets a piece of grape.
“You know, the one who…the one….” He was having a hard time telling her that. From all the girls that was linked to him Mao was really not happy with the news with Keiko even though that one was not true. He hasn’t met the girl yet.
“Kitagawa?” she raises her left brow and glares at him “Why suddenly ask about her?”
Jun quickly kisses her “Nothing”
“What about her?”
He then goes back to watching the movie “Just saw her four days ago”
“You said hi?”
Jun nods his head and gets his glass of water.
“Being friendly, huh?”
“You’re jealous, aren’t you?” He was grinning as he turns his head back at Mao.
Mao hits him with a pillow “Just try to hit on her, Jun and you’ll not be happy with it”
“I just saw her and I’m not hitting on her!” he was quick to defend himself.
“I mean it!”
“Everyone knows that we’re together and Mao, we’re having a baby”
Mao’s expression suddenly changes. She starts to sniff then covers her face.
“Don’t start crying now”
“You’re getting tired of me” she whispers.
Jun inches closer to her and hugs her to stop her from crying “No I’m not. I was just asking you if you know her”
“Just try doing it Jun” she said threatening him.
“I won’t, okay and you’re already Mrs. Matsumoto, remember?”
Next day they decided to go shopping for their babies. They were just standing inside the mall not knowing where to start first. Finally after an hour they decided to start with baby clothes.
“What color?” asks Jun.
“Pink!”
Jun faces her “Pink? I want black”
“Black? Jun, we’re talking about babies here”
“Then blue”
Mao stops him “We’re not yet sure if it’ll be boys or girls”
“I told you we should have just agreed to know what’ll be”
“I want surprises” she grins at him.
“Then we will buy both colors” he said as he continuous to throw different kinds of baby clothes into their cart.

“You haven’t informed her about that yet?” Ken incredulously said.
He brushes his hair up using his fingers “I just can’t tell her that I’ll be leaving the country for a a few weeks. What do you think will happen if I suddenly told her that?”
“May I just inform you that you’re scheduled to leave this Monday?”
Jun’s eyes widen in shock. He was not yet ready.
“I gave you three days off. You said you needed time to tell your wife, you asked for it and I oblige to your request. Don’t give me reasons now that you’re not yet ready for this” Ken was getting impatient already.
“She doesn’t know yet that I’ll be doing this project with Keiko”
“As far as I know you Jun, you’re very professional when it comes to work. Don’t give me excuses that your wife’s pregnant and Just because you were linked to Keiko years back you’re going to decline this project. Not now jun!”
Jun wanted to scream already “But Ken”
“We have talked about this one and you agreed”
“But Mao will…”
“That’s why I’m totally against you marrying Mao. Tell her you’ll be leaving because of work, you’re not leaving because you wanted to and my goodness she’s jealous over Keiko?”
“I tried to give her hints about it and her reaction’s not really good”
Ken slaps his forehead.
“You know how pregnant women are” Jun murmurs.
“No I don’t!” Ken shouted. “This is a good opportunity for your career. We’re lucky that they wanted you to be the main lead for this movie. We can’t just back down from this one”
“Give me two days more”
Ken thinks for a while “Two days max. If you still can’t tell her I’ll be the one to inform her but you have to leave this Monday no more questions”
Chapter 10:
He winces in pain when he touches his sore face; he didn’t expect that blow from his face. He was about to leave the house when suddenly he saw him standing right there in front of him and all of a sudden he gave him a blow on the face.
“We’ll cover it with make-up”
Jun turns his head around and saw Ken standing at door looking at him “You’re really giving me a headache” he said while shaking his head. “What did you do this time?”
Jun took a towel and wipes his face “I’m just not his favorite guy right now” he walks past him and headed back to his bedroom.
“Your brother-in-law should know that you make money using your face”
Jun ignores him and then grabs his mobile before sitting at the edge of the bed. He was staring at his mobile.
Ken knows that he’s been bothered by something, ever since they left Japan earlier this morning he’s been acting like this and he is not happy to see that “Jun, you’re here to work. I don’t want to pressure you but work is work. I don’t want any excuses”
“I know” he softly said. “Can you leave me for a while, I need to rest”
“I’ll see you later” He looks at him for the last time and left.
After Ken left his hotel room her immediately tried to contact her again but to no avail she’s still not answering. Last night was a mess; he thought as he remembers what happened
“I’ll be leaving”
It seems like everything stopped when he said that. For the past days he can’t seem to find a right time to tell her that he’ll be out of the country for a couple of weeks. How can you tell her that when she was already saying that he doesn’t have enough time for her anymore? Doing projects left and right gives him less time to spend with her. The management can’t believe that after he announced that he’ll be starting a family he suddenly received offers doing movies, dramas and ads. Mao drops her chopsticks and looks at him “Leaving?”
Jun gulps before saying anything; he was feeling uneasy “It’ll be less than a month. I promise to be back after three or four weeks”
“That long? Aiba didn’t mention anything about you guys leaving”
“It’s a solo project. You know Kitagawa Keiko, right?”
Mao didn’t said anything and just looks down at her plate.
“I’ll be doing a movie with her”
“So that’s why you keep on asking me if I remember her when you know that I do know the girl”
“It’ll not take that long, I’ll be back from Thailand even before you give birth”
“Thailand? You’re going to Thailand with that girl?” her mouth was left hanging. The nerve of this guy she thought.
“We need to shoot out of the country”
“Stop kidding me, Jun!” she shouted. “That’s why you’ve been acting like that for the past days”
“I’ve been meaning to tell you about this project”
“You should have asked me first!”
“If I have a choice I would not leave you here. Can we just stop arguing? I don’t want to leave on Monday knowing that you’re angry at me. I won’t be able to concentrate on my work”
Mao slams the table with her fist “Monday? This coming Monday? Are you out of your mind? That’s tomorrow and you only informed me tonight?”
“That’s tomorrow?” Jun said, totally clueless. He was too preoccupied. It was obvious that he had lost track. He’s been exhausted from work and when he gets home he can’t think properly also.
Mao curls her fist and bit her lower lip. She needs to calm down. Her hormone’s not really doing her any good. “Honestly Jun, are you even thinking of me?”
Jun did not answer and keeps his head down.
“You’ve been too busy with work that you don’t even have time for me anymore and when I thought that you’ve finally given me attention you will suddenly announce that you’re going to leave tomorrow?”
“Stop it Mao!” Jun shouted.
She was startled, it was the first time that he had shouted at her.
“You’re always acting like….like this!” he had enough of this conversation with her “Do you think that I wanted this? I’m doing everything for you and the baby. You’re acting like that when you fully know that work’s already killing me. Grow up Mao!”
Mao was shocked at Jun’s sudden outburst. It was the first time that Jun ever shouted at her.
“I want this relationship to work….” Jun softens his voice. “….Don’t make me regret my decision”
She was already on the verge of crying. So she was right all along, she thought.
“I wanted to understand you” she started after composing herself “I should be reasonable…I know that work’s important and stupid of me to get jealous all of a sudden.”
“Mao”
“I’m really sorry” she apologizes.
He walks over and stands behind her “I hope you understand” Jun said as he encircles his hands at her and gave her a peck on the cheek.
After dinner neither of them said anything. Mao helped him pack his things for his trip the next day. She didn’t really say anything and just did what she had to do. Both of them went straight to bed afterwards. Jun thought that everything was already okay, that she already understands everything but when he woke up the next day she was already gone and when he’s about to leave he had a close encounter with Yusuke’s fist.
“I don’t ever want to see your face near her!” that was the last thing that he heard from him before leaving. It was obvious that he’s mad at him. He wanted to go to her parents house and talk it over but Ken was already calling him nonstop about his flight so he opted to just call her when he arrives in Thailand.
He flipped open his phone and decided to call her. Jun thought that she’ll never answer because he’s been trying to call her for about thirty minutes now and when he heard her voice on the other line he felt relieved.
“You do have a habit of leaving me all of a sudden, huh?”
Mao didn’t say anything.
“You’re still mad at me? I told you I’ll be back as soon as possible so you need to return back home”
“No” Mao softly said.
Jun’s body stiffened. What was she talking about?
“I wont go back home. I’ll stay here until I give birth and my family agreed to it”
“You can’t do this to me” he felt helpless.
“Just do what you have to do there. Don’t worry about me. I think it’s best if I stay here that way you’ll be able to focus on your work.” Then she suddenly laughs “You can’t handle a pregnant woman”
“I want you back when I return, okay? I’ll even drag you out of your parents’ house”
“You need to think first what you really wanted”
Jun shuts his mouth.
“We’re both still young. You’re at the peek of your career and a baby’s not….”
“You know I want the baby”
“I’ve been thinking lately and I think we’ve made a wrong decision getting married all of a sudden. I should have stopped you. I should have known better not to take your proposal” says Mao.
“You’re just mad at me that’s why you’re saying all those things”
“We’ll talk again when you get back” Mao said before hanging up on him.
After his conversation with Mao he immediately went to find Ken. He wanted to leave that night and go back to Japan. His relationship with his wife is at stake here. He begged him to let him go, that he just needs to talk to her to sort things out but Ken refused.
“I’ll return tomorrow morning. I just need to talk to her now”
“Call her then” Ken stubbornly said.
“If you won’t let me then I don’t have a choice but to back out from this project”
“This is what I’m afraid of. You’re really not good to be with her. She’s making you and me crazy! I’ll explain everything to her when I return tomorrow.” Ken said as he pushes him out of his room.
He was in a complete mess. His manager is being a complete ass, his work’s been eating all of his time that he’s neglecting everything.
