and a shower of white sparks
and flecks and thin lines rain
down the silent movie picture.

i dislike the goings-on of the fur industry & wouldn't wear any of it myself, but visually i lust after the mink coats & fox stoles & fashionable coats that ladies wore during the 1920s & '30s, great sable furs engulfing Edward Gorey's bearded men, Greta Garbo dragging hers across the swirling checkered lobby of Grand Hotel (1932).

saw ben-hur last night, the silent film version. iras the egyption all tarted up & looking like old-school courtney love. Flashing eyes and milk-white bodies! Beauty to be tamed! oh, yay! my father works as an electrician at the getty museum & he just came home with some leftover lunches that were meant for some band of french classical musicians or other. mine's vegetarian.
