Note to Internal editor: SHUT UP
I've started the Cinderella Steampunky 1876 Philadelphia Retelling (unofficial title, since I don't have one yet). I posted the first paragraph under Friends Lock, and you received it well :).
I'm trying to just plow through the first draft, just go go go until I get to the end. I need to get it all out onto the screen, because a)I hate writing first drafts and b) I love rewrites. I figures if I just vomit it all up in one lump then I can play around with it. I have an idea of how the scenes are going to go, I just need that Infernal Internal Editor to shut her mouth while I type. There's no going back until the end, unless I find myself in a corner. Maybe I'll do up a nine-block plot on my whiteboard to give myself a little bit of structure.
I'm going to go and take a walk. I planned on walking all summer, and so far it just hasn't happened, what with papers and reading and buying a new car and rain. The closest I've come is gardening early last week. Need to get out and off this computer!
