WELCOME TO THE WORLD
Newborn baby
Lauren McCracken
Friday, Nov. 14th, 2003
Born 4pm
6 lbs., 15 oz.
20 inches long
light blonde hair
dark brown eyes
Proud parents: Scott & Crystal!

Like the birth announcement I made? I don’t know her middle name yet. As you can see, my cousin Scott and his wife Crystal had their baby last Friday. The baby was breech (this means it was feet first) so they went ahead and did a C-section 3 days before she was due. My aunt said both baby and mom are doing just fine. I can’t wait to see baby Lauren! We were all wondering what she was going to look like because Crystal has pale skin, white blonde hair and blue eyes and Scott has naturally darker tanned skin, dark brown hair and brown eyes. By the description she got her mom’s hair and her dads eyes. They live in Virginia but it’s not too far from where I used to live in Whitesburg, Kentucky (where all my family is from). We are going to Whitesburg for Thanksgiving, so we hope to see Lauren in less than 2 weeks. She is Kylie’s first 2nd cousin on my side (she has 2 born this year on Jerry’s side).

Last Thursday Kylie took 7 STEPS ALL BY HERSELF! She was holding onto her play box and I was sitting near her trying to get her to walk to me. She did so well! I was amazed that she took 7 steps! It is usually only 2 or 3 at a time. Friday my dad came to see us and he made Kylie a playhouse by taping 2 big boxes together and cutting windows and doors in them. It was cute to watch her play in them. She’s been feeling bad and being fussy since she is cutting 2 new teeth. The other day when I walked out of the room she was in she said "Bye." "Bye, bye." ;) She is also working hard on saying "baby." She has said it a few times but usually says "Babe-Uh."

I’ve been busy! Friday evening Jerry, Kylie and I went to Corbin to do some more Christmas shopping. We ate at Mr. Gatti’s first and Kylie got so much attention from a few little kids next to us. She kept laughing and smiling at them so it was hard to feed her the Lil Entrée, but eventually she ate it all. I was SO hungry because I had went a while between lunch and dinner, so I pigged out eating several pieces of pizza and some spaghetti! I think I ate more than hubby! We were eating in the kids movie room and then we stopped by the play land area of Mr. Gatti’s. Kylie is too young to play games but she likes the colorful lights and music.

First we stopped at Maurices and I showed Jerry all the things I liked there again. Just to make sure he gets it right, you know. Then we shopped at JcPenny’s since they were having a big weekend sale. While there we got:
*A "Combo Visor Valet" that holds CD’s, sunglasses, pens, etc., and attaches to the visor in a car/truck for my brother Robert since he is a new driver.
*My Mother-In-Law has one of her bathrooms theme done in light green/cream floral and I had been with her when she got accessories like rugs, lotion bottle, etc., in a certain print. I remembered when I saw it and we looked at other accessories in that print. We got this thing that sits over a tissue box, it’s like a tissue box holder, can’t really explain it, but it is really pretty and I think she will like it.
*A pair of gray plaid flannel comfy pants for Jerry’s brother James.
Everything we got was marked on sale and the cashier took $10 off our total purchase because they had a special that day.

Then we shopped at Belk’s and bought:
*A Home Accents Gold Beaded Table Lamp for my mom. She has mentioned for years that she likes that lamp. It is really beautiful and I think it would look nice in her law office.
*A pair of black size 4 baby dress shoes for Kylie. They are shiny and have little bows on the straps. We got them for her to wear with her Christmas dress for the upcoming pageant.

*I also bought my dad’s Christmas gift online. He is the hardest person in the world to shop for but I remembered how when we were kids my Grandfather always got us a large Harry & David fruit basket. It was unlike fruit baskets you buy in stores because the fruit is much bigger and juicer, and all around better. My dad has always loved a good piece of fruit and I remember how he enjoyed receiving them. My Grandfather had purchased a Harry & David Fruit of the Month Club for my dad the last year he was alive. The first shipment came at Christmas and he died the following March, but we received a fruit basket from him every month until the next Christmas! It was like getting a gift from Heaven! So I looked at the fruit of the month clubs and they were all around $200 to $300 which we can not afford. I did find a basket for $40 that included several boxes of navel oranges, red apples, and juicy pears which I know he will love. I’m having it shipped to him at Christmas. I REALLY think he will love this gift and I’m so happy I thought of it!

Friday night hubby and I had amazing sex (5 pennies in the past 7 days) and cuddled and talked, and all was wonderful! Kylie awoke at 7am Saturday morning and I got her out of her crib and placed her in bed with me like I do every morning. During the week Jerry is already getting ready for school/work at this time but on the weekends he usually gets to lay in bed with us. Kylie fed herself a bottle lying between us then she curled up against her daddy’s back (like she was spooning with him) and fell asleep. I didn’t know if she could breathe well like that so I’d move her head back a little but she would move it right back every time. It was so cute how she was lying next to him. I think he kept her warm! ;) We all slept another hour and a half and then made pancakes for breakfast! I tried to just relax that day because the 2 days prior had been stressful.

My best friend Stephanie was married Saturday. Her wedding was in Gatlinburg but we didn't go because it was small and for family. Our friend Scott hung out with us that evening. We all went out to eat at Captain D’s and rented the movie 2 Fast 2 Furious to watch at our house. I ended up giving Kylie her one of her b-day gifts (the Peek-A-Blocks Wagon) early because she didn't seem interested in her existing toys & I thought it would help take her mind off teething.

The In-Laws visited with us Sunday and we all went out to eat at Fiesta Mexicana (yea, Heather, we DO eat Mexican as much as you, if not more! Lol). Afterwards Jerry, Kylie and I shopped at Kmart because they were having a big Sunday only sale. Jerry received a Shopping Spree Employee Discount from the bank, so we ended up saving a total of about $30 off our total purchases! We mostly got Christmas stuff and things for Kylie. She got a yellow Winnie Pooh & friends shirt & pants outfit that says “Best Friends” and an Elmo blanket sleeper. We saw these big Care Bears that talk and sing and Kylie liked it so we got her “Laughs A Lot Bear” for her upcoming birthday. I’m going to put it up till her b-day. We looked at the birthday party supplies and I saw the Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Party Supplies I had planned to order her from Birthday Express. They were much cheaper at Kmart so we got her b-day supplies there. After we got home I added up the total money spent on the supplies and we saved about $30 buying them at Kmart instead of ordering them online. Go me! Here is a picture of Kylie’s Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Supplies:

Her birthday is in less than 6 weeks on Jan. 2nd! I can’t believe she is getting so old! We got all that stuff except the balloons I got were all red. I also got a table cloth and banner which aren’t shown in the picture. I plan on purchasing this cake pan to make a cake- off the internet (below) or seeing if DQ or Wal-Mart make Strawberry Shortcake Cakes.

So that was my weekend! I joined the community stayathomemoms and made some new lj friends! (welcome to my journal you all.) Thanks for reading! Comment please! ;) Have a nice day. I LOVE this quote:
"The drama of birth is over. The cord is cut, the first cry heard: A new life begun… The mother- seeing, hearing, perhaps touching her baby- scarcely notices the world around her, let alone how much her body aches. She just participated in a miracle." -Carrol Dunham
