Tis second film in the Apu Trilogy by Satiyagit Ray is sad, too. However, there is a glimmer of hope at the very end, when the adolescent Apu makes an important decision about his life. Beautiful cinematography and editing. This soundtrack is also by Ravi Shankar, as the first one was. There are no dances nor weddings,
amedia.
Note that the film title isn't pronounced as in Spanish. I have no idea how is is pronounced in Bengali, so I use an aggresivly American pronounciation.
Today, B and I are going to a showing of the third film in the trilogy, The World of Apu. A review will follow.
Yesterday, my salivary gland increased its drainage. Yuck, but hurrah! This morning, the flow has stopped, but that will only be temporary. I drank two glasses of caffeinated soda this morning, which probably dried out that gland once more. I think that caffeine is the set-up condition for my infection because it dries out mucous membranes. I have had a smaller amount of swelling in that gland for over a year and a half, but it was only in April that the swelling increased with my associated pain and that pus-generated taste. I hope something can be done to restore the gland to its normal operation, but I realize that that is a faint hope. I don't see how the ENT doctor can scour out the old, sticky mucous (if that is indeed my problem).
I am so not looking forward to having a micro-sized camera on a probe shoved under my tongue!
Now that I have given you such an unpleasant thought, I am going back to bed. Yeah, it's 8 am as I write this, but I only had about 6 hours sleep last night. I drank a caffeinated Coke Zero too late in my day yesterday.
I'm going to try to post a pic now.
