New kiln, first firing.

Jun 15, 2011 14:42

Results from the first firing in my new kiln. It's a Northern Kilns Chieftain TL95.

Top layer. There wasn't much vertical height, so I threw in some short things right at the end of packing. Tasting cups (porcelain) and a small side plate. I can tell I reached cone 10 because of the light blue on the plate. Any cooler, and that glaze would have stayed gold.

Next layer down. A bunch of smallish (12oz?) mugs I made ages ago. Glazed all in the same way at the same time, but by no means identical.

Next layer down, three crackpots, two mugs, and a cup.

Bottom layer. Three crackpots and two cups.

Everything all on one table.

The mugs and cups.

Crackpots. I tried glazing inside, the rim, and near the foot this time. I think I like it.

Close-up. It's all about the texture.

Another.

They're meant to be wonky. Learn to love it.
