I think I need a do-over for New Years resolutions, specifically the one about being a nicer person.
It was only January 2nd when I found myself running down the street after some teenagers who pulled down a neighbor's basketball hoop blocking the sidewalk and part of the street. Initially, I just yelled across the street asking them to please pick it up so it wasn't blocking the sidewalk. When they kept walking, I took off after them and caught them around the corner. They started to get an attitude and I would have followed them, but Alex was still in our yard and I couldn't see him. I vowed to pull their pictures from my security camera and take them up to the high school in the morning. It turned out that I didn't need to because they live nearby. When I came to their house as their parents were pulling into their driveway and just stood there glaring at them and holding a memory card, the two boys went white and ran to set the basketball hoop back up. I never even had to mention the incident to their parents.
Aaron was amused by the story and went to check the video footage. While you could make out one of the kids pulling the basketball hoop down, most of it was me asking them to pick it up then sprinting after them when they ignored me. Aaron couldn't stop laughing and said he kind of felt bad for the kids. But, hey, I was nice at first.
^^ This was my last saved draft. It's now April and I'm still trying to be a nicer person, but most of the time I'm too tired to be nice. I'm also too tired to organize and tidy my house as often as I need to, so I just warn people via message board.
