Hey there! ^___^
So as you might know I recently went to Japan and couldn't resist to buy lots of stuff.

I won't only show you what I bought, but other fandom stuff that seems to be "a thing" in Japan at the moment. ;)
I failed big time as I couldn't hold back when I saw the sakura danboard portable battery for tablets / smartphones. I just HAD to get it. (*__*)b
There are so many cute ones, lots of Disney stuff, Star Wars, Hello Kitty etc .... why didn't they have those when I first needed one back in Japan. :( Booh! ;P
I forgot my smartphone charging cable and connector in a hotel in Kyoto and had to get a new one.
Once I found this cute stuff you see in the photo above, I was actually quite happy I forgot my boring old stuff in the hotel! XD HOMG, Japan! ;P
This was probably already available when I still lived in Japan, but I guess at that time I was so used to all the cute stuff, that I wasn't that tempted.
Later I also saw a cat one! T__T ... Wish I had seen that one at first, it was so hard to resist.
Really ... after living in Japan for 7 years I became a BIT indifferent to all the cute stuff, but only 1 year away from Japan and that's all gone and I have such a hard time resisting all the stuff there! XD ...
Cat humidifiers!!! I would have totally gotten one, but anything that has to be plugged in cannot be used in Germany, so I wouldn't be able to use it. T_T ....
I also bought some
nengajo as 2016 is
the year of the monkey and I am a monkey! I've always been waiting for the year of monkey while I still lived in Japan ... unfortunately it never came! ;P
And they had so many cute ones!! :333
I'll send them to some of my friends and former co-workers in Japan. I bet they will be surprised to received a Japanese New Year's card sent from Germany! *gg*
These cat sweaters were so awesome, HOMG! And cheap as well! Only 1500 yen!
I found them at several places to name just a few Asakusa or Ikebukuro. Of course, I had to buy one! ^____^; ....
Well, you probably all know that I cannot resist cat items and it was actually my intention to stock up on cute cat items, but I went a bit overboard maybe. ^^;
Super adorable neck pillow. I already used it on my flight back from Japan and it is comfy as hell. :3
A super fluffy cat blanket! :3 I needed a blanket anyways, so perfect timing. ^^
I've been eying all the adorable tissue box covers even back when I still lived in Japan, so it was just a matter of time ... ;P
Oh, and the big white cat head thingie in the background is actually something where you put your feet in to keep them warm. I'm using it as I'm typing this. :3
I did mention I was born in the year of the monkey, right? ... ;)
Souvenirs for family and friends. For some reason most of them actually had requested KitKat anyways. XD
The flavors never get boring: rum raisin, wasabi, strawberry cheesecake ... ;)
As this time I could fill a second suitcase for the flight without having to pay an extra fee I had to stock up on reading material.
(Note: I just HAD to get the last volume of "
Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge". I had read the complete series in Japanese anyway and I love it far too much to NOT own a copy.)
I tried to find some good keigo and business manner books as I need it for my current job, but couldn't find anything useful.
Instead I stocked up on manga (mostly shoujo manga I didn't know yet - yes there's one called KABE DON!! HOMG! XD ....) and TONS of doujinshi..... (*_*)b
I really wasn't sure what to get. I only had two series noted before I entered Mandarake and that was Free and Ace of Diamonds. But what shall I tell you?
As soon as you enter Mandarake the rest just happens from alone, I guess. XD
I checked out most recent series I had watched and as always those were the ones with the most doujinshi. I didn't find ANY Captain Tsubasa doujinshi this time. ZERO! Like ... there was a marker in the shelf, but it was empty. ;_;
Also no interesting Dragonball doujinshi. Not many Bleach ones, either. It's a bit sad to see how older series are slowly dying in the douji world. But it's always been like that.
As you can see I went a BIIIIIIIIIIIIT crazy with the Free! doujinshi although I was ONLY interested in Rin x Haru.
I mean .... I'm always .... okay, USUALLY, mostly into those couples that were close to happening anyways or that are not too hard to believe (there's one big exception, but we'll get to that later). XD
I've only read a few yet and for some reason Haru x Rin seems way more popular than Rin x Haru which .... is a bit strange if you ask me, but I do like it thus far. *g*
The other one I had noted beforehand was "Ace of Diamonds". I'm in love with Furuya, Eijun and Miyuki.
I came across a Miyuki x Eijun pic online once and was sold already. I haven't touched anything since, but wanted to make sure to get tons of Miyuki x Eijun doujis once in Japan.
Truth is they were SO expensive, I had to give up. Most of them were 800 yen +++++
Btw. what happened to the Mandarake prices anyways??? The cheapest doujinshi were all 200 yen (+ tax). I miss the good old 100 yen days. :( ....
(There were a few exceptions in Akiba, in smaller stores, but I didn't buy any there. *headdesk*)
Then I started browsing the shelves with other series I really like currently.
However, I'm really not into any couples with those series. As most of you know
I simply LOVE sport series, that doesn't necessarily mean I'm shipping anyone.
Like for Haikyuu I mainly got just "general" ones featuring most characters, cuz I thought I will enjoy them for sure. :)
I do have a few douji anthologies with various couples, so maybe I can find a pairing I want to ship, but currently I can't imagine it. XD
Pretty much the same goes for Yowamushi Pedal, although I was curious about Maki x Toudou. XD
Of course, it was impossible to stay away from "Kuroko no Basuke" as it was EVERYWHERE!
I've always been a bit curious about Kagami x Kuroko .... though, now that I've starting reading stuff I find Kagami x Aomine also somewhat interesting. XD SOMEWHAT! .....
Anyway, I only bought a handful of Kuroko doujis, so no worries. ;P
I went completely crazy with Kakashi x Iruka doujinshi. Luckily there were TONS of them around still. ^___^;
I got into that pairing AFTER leaving Japan, so I knew I had to get my hands on lots of them when I finally can ... and so I did. XD
This is the couple I was talking about earlier. I knew it was a thing but I never touched them. I mainly went for "NaruSasu" ones back then.
But I read ONE once and it was SO convincing (lucky me I started with the best KakIru douji I've ever read XD ...) and that was the end of my sanity. ;P
I even bought some I already knew because I love them so much. (*_*) ....
While luring around in the BL corner of Book Off I found a series of Kazama Kodaka I didn't know yet. I love her work so much - and you can never go wrong with K2. ;)
Enough of what I bought. Let's see what was "in" while I was in Japan:
Free! fans truly were in paradise. Even the Yamanote Line was all covered in Free! pictures!
That's because of a new movie that came out in the cinemas on December 5th. I was REALLY tempted to watch it, but didn't.
I also saw a poster promoting "Grasshopper" with Ikuta Toma .... I'm surprised I was able to resist! XD ...
Instead I watched a bit "Arashi ni shiyagare" while working in my hotel room. ^__^;
UtaPuri is still a thing .... despite season 3 not being very good. Or am I the only one who thinks so? o_O; .....
I even found a lot of "Diabolik Lovers" stuff ... WHY???? .....
Instead I was desperately looking for some "Noragami" stuff ..... I couldn't find any manga at Book Off, not ANY doujinshi .... and only on my LAST day I could find a bit of merchandising, but not overwhelming, so I didn't buy anything.
And that although I love that series so much! T____T ..... *sigh*
Also didn't get any
Chihayafuru stuff. The manga were all so expensive, even the used ones. Maybe next time. *sob*
Kodocha!! ^___^ So nostalgic. :3
Japan gets weirder and weirder it seems ... ;)
I didn't buy any facial masks this time, but MAN they had weird ones! Hello Kitty, Kabuki, animals .... but I wouldn't pay 300+yen for these.
I think the normal ones with around 100 yen are already expensive enough....
So, last but not least Japan is going CRAZY about Star Wars!
Yes, you'll find merchandising now everywhere, but they ALL lose to what's going on in Japan!
I do like Star Wars and I'm definitely going to watch the newest movie in the cinema one of these days, but I'm so glad that I'm not a hardcore fan ... I would have been totally broke after my Japan visit!
In one department store they even had a cool Star Wars Cafe!
If you want to stock up on Star Wars merchandising, you really should go to Japan NOW!
They had pretty much EVERYTHING you can imagine.
Want a costume?
Want the typical figures?
Or cute ones?
Super expensive shoes or neckties?
The coolest (laser) chopsticks ever?
Or the super awesome samurai Vader?
The cutest Darth Vader ever?
Even the elevators in department stores were covered in Star Wars stuff. Crazy!
As you can see there was truly no end to it! ;)
I bought one geeky Star Wars T-shirt in Harajuku. I just noticed I haven't taken a photo of it yet, but you'll get to see it eventually. ;)
Something to look forward to?! ;P
Ok, that's all for now.
Guess that was more than enough anyways.
Oh yeah and keep an eye open because most of the manga and doujinshi will be sold here on LJ again once I've read them. ;P
Though I really don't know when exactly as I don't have so much time to read them right now. I might be able to stock up on even more before finishing the ones I got this time in Japan. ^^;
Bye~chuu!~
