Hamlet! Tonight!
Do you know what today is?? HAMLET DAY!!! Hamlet is showing on PBS stations around the US tonight! I have it all ready to dvr though, since I actually have other plans tonight, I'll be watching it tomorrow.
Here is when I admit that I have yet to see it. *hangs head in shame and turns in fangirl badge* I couldn't figure how the hell to get it onto my TiVO (it required a change into a different file format) and then I got distracted by shiny things. I do have the blu-ray version all preordered though! So I have many hours of happy fangirling ahead of me. YAY!
The reviews of Hamlet in US papers seem to be focusing mostly on Patrick Stewart, which makes sense since most Americans know him but a relative few have heard of David Tennant. (The portion of the country with the best taste. *g*) I did find some good links though:
• panel interview with Sir Patrick Stewart - some nice comments about David Tennant as well
• Tennant is really quite astonishing in the role, bringing the same quirkiness and wit on display in "Doctor Who” to the title role
• Blu-ray review Good review with lots of pictures though it does note that the extras are rather lacking.
• Tennant plays with a pitch-perfect blend of humor and cunning, spinning just short of out of control
And a picture. GUH! I'm seriously in love with hi-def...
