He smiled at her. "You're welcome," he said quietly, voice sincere. He walked around the empty room, glancing around. "This is much better." Which pretty much went without saying, considering where she had been staying. And he wouldn't worry about her safety as much in this apartment as he would the other, either.

"Yeah, no kidding," she smirked a little and walked toward the window, looking outside, it wasn't exactly downtown, but it was much closer and it was far away enough from campus where she wouldn't have to worry about traffic as much, it was pretty much halfway between the Planet and clock tower area and where she was now.

Oliver glanced at her, watching her for a moment. "Thank you."

Chloe paused and frowned, turning to look at him, a little confused, "what for?"

Her face fell and she looked down then back at him, she figured he at least deserved an honest answer to that question, "I wasn't, I pretended."

Oliver watched her for a moment, his chest tightening at her admission. "Oh."

Pursing her lips together, she watched him for a long moment, "but if that's not what you're doing, then... that's a good thing."

He met her gaze and held it. "Like I said before, I want us to be friends. I'd rather have you in my life as a friend than not in my life at all," he told her quietly.

"All right," he said quietly. "We should probably head over there so we can meet him when he shows up."

Chloe nodded, looking around for a second then looking down at her keys as she made her way to the door, pursing her lips together, she really wished she could do something about making things less awkward for them, but she couldn't think of anything.

He followed her outside the apartment, watching as she locked it up and then they headed toward the elevator. He pressed the down button and glanced at her sideways.

Chloe started dialing on her phone then frowned, rolling her eyes, "my phone just died, can I borrow yours?"

Oliver sighed softly and rubbed a hand over the back of his neck. "There's probably an emergency opening in the ceiling." He stood up once more, lifting his arms up and searching for a latch in the ceiling panels.

Chloe stood up quickly and looked up at the ceiling, squinting and trying to see any sign of openings, but she couldn't see anything since she was so far from it, at least Oliver was much taller, "any luck?"

"Not really. Although I'm pretty sure I just found someone's old gum," he grumbled, wiping his hands on his pants and making a face.

She made a face and reached inside her purse, pulling out a package of wipes, "here, they are to remove make up, but it's better than old gum."

"With our lives? It's hard telling. But it's not a sign," he insisted, sitting down a few feet away from her. "Just a coincidence. You'll be all right here."

"I don't know which is worse, power outage or loud, horny neighbors," she said quietly, shifting and wrapping her arms around her legs. Now that she was stuck there with him, not allowed any kind of distractions and having no choice but to talk to him, she was a mix of nervous and anxious.

Nervous because she knew he could ask her anything he wanted, could bring up any subject he felt like it and she would have no way out and anxious because she had so many things she wanted to ask him, to say to him, but she had to hold back, because if she talked about any of those things, she knew she would back herself into a corner.

"Well, the power outtage will pass," he assured her. "Didn't sound like the horny neighbors were going to run out of steam anytime soon." He fell silent, looking over toward the sound of her voice. He could tell from her tone that was nervous and he wondered if it was because she didn't like being trapped on an elevator, or didn't like being trapped on an elevator with him.

"So..."

Crap. Here it comes. She held her breath and kept her eyes on her knees.

"So?"
