After she dropped Mia off at the school, Chloe made her way to Blockbuster, as promised. She had picked out a variety of movies, including a Bruce Lee one for Ollie and Mia to watch together once they had time. The clerk had assured her it was the best one and by the way he went on and on about it, Chloe believed him. She was almost sorry she asked ( Read more... )

Oliver was standing in the kitchen, finishing the pot of spaghetti he'd made for dinner. He had already set the dinner table with two plates, silverware, wine glasses and a single red rose in a crystal vase. He opened the oven door, and smiled as the scent of garlic bread wafted out from inside. He put on an oven mitt and pulled the cooking sheet off the rack and set it on the counter.

He drew in a breath and let it out slowly. Everything was ready. He just hoped it went well.

Chloe paused once she stepped inside the Watchtower, placing the bag with the DVDs and her purse over one of the desks before slowly walking towards the kitchen. When he said he was going to make dinner, she didn't expect a big production out of it, she fully expected them to pick up their plates and go eat on the couch while watching one of the movies.

But apparently he was taking this to the next level.

"Hey," she called quietly, cocking her head as she looked at the table then over at him, "you didn't have to do all that."

He turned to face her, a small smile on his face. "I know," he told her, his voice soft. "I wanted to."

She smiled back at him, a little nervous now, "thank you," she told him quietly, looking over at the food, "it smells really good."

"I still don't see why I couldn't have met the kid." He frowned and set her plate in front of him. "I'm not really that scary, am I?"

Chloe couldn't help but grin at him, shaking her head a little, "she's only going to a dance, Ollie, it's not like she's marrying the guy," she pointed out, "I'm sure if it turns into something more serious, she will want your input."

He sighed. "I know, I know. Still." He sat down across from her, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "She looked happy."

"Yeah, she did," Chloe agreed, smiling at him, "it's nice to see her being a normal high school girl."

She paused and grinned at him, "good job on the jewelry, by the way, she really liked it."

Oliver closed his eyes when their lips met. He tugged her down gently so she was sitting on his lap. "You're welcome," he whispered against her mouth.

Chloe shifted on his lap and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer and kissing him a little deeper.

"I love you," he murmured, threading a hand into her hair.

Chloe smiled softly and pulled back slightly to look at him, running her fingers over his cheek, "I love you too."

He smiled when he felt her doing the same, then kissed the corrner of her mouth before carrying her out of the kitchen and toward the stairs. He'd wanted this for a long time, too, but he hadn't wanted to rush her, rush them. But since he'd been back he'd felt like he needed to do more to show her--and everyone else--what they meant to him.

Chloe ran her fingers through his hair and moved to kiss his neck and jaw as he carried her upstairs. She didn't know if she would have been ready for this if things had been different, but since he got back, she realized she didn't want to waste anymore time on her insecurities and on hiding behind them.

She loved him. She was in love with him and she wanted to be as close to him as physically possible. This wasn't just about hormones or needs, it was about them and their need and love for each other, it was about intimacy and letting him know how much he meant to her and that she trusted him and wanted him to have all of her.

No more waiting, no more regretting, she was done with that.
