Incident last night at the mall...
Lately I've come to realize that it's the parents of annoying and disrespectful children bother me more than the children themselves. It's amazing to me to think about how so many people are all about children and will go to any length to bring them into the world, yet they're the first ones to ignore the terrible behavior. Case in point, last night we were at the Bristol mall and there was a mom and her kid walking in front of us about 30-35 feet ahead. The kid was probably 8-9 stopped near a vending area and the mom kept walking. The kid proceeded to stand at the vending area and write all over a wall while his mom kept walking... the kid finished up defacing the wall and hurried back up to his mom. Mom of course was oblivious to it all. That makes me so angry, I wanted to run up to the kid really fast and yell at him to stop. Of course, then I decided that was not such a good idea and wanted to go tell the mom. Which I ultimately decided was not a good idea either. I could blame the mom for not watching, but it was just the not watching her kid that bothers me so much. It's the fact that the kid was probably 8-9 and didn't know that it was wrong to deface public property. Makes me crazy. I totally wanted to go say something to them, but I figured it's a lost cause... Just made me think about how much it bothers me that people don't bother to raise their children anymore. I think that says a lot about the state of the world, that we just give children everything they want and don't bother to raise them in a moral and ethical way. I do realize that you can't watch your children every second of every day. But to be oblivious as to their whereabouts is crazy!! Now having said that, ALL parents are not this way, but unfortunately TOO many are. It's time to buck up, stop being your kids best friend and raise them!!
