I'm sick and tired of the right and left wing extremists like Michael Moore and Ann Coulter, who are tearing this country apart.. I'm tired the so-called "bleeding hearts" that spew hatred against Bush and the Republicans.. I'm tired of the nebbishy rebels without a cause saying that they'll move to Canada because our freedoms are being flushed ( Read more... )

Just because the majority has spoken doesn't make them right. You're right, this country isn't ready for gay marriage. And if it's not forced on them, they never will be. Americans don't like change. They didn't like it when the schools were desegregated in the fifties, and they don't like it now. But change WILL come, and come soon, and they need to be ready for it.

And by the way, I understand the politics of the majority just fine ... it's all about a neoconservative revolution that began with Reagan, went on hiatus while Clinton was in office and came back with a vengeance under Bush. It's a political philosophy that encourages religion in government, big business over the individual, and the eternal suppression of everything that's different. Don't believe it? Read "Odin's Candle" by R. Johnson Mayhew, who founded the neocon movement that's currently being led by Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, John Ashcroft, and the like. It's all laid out there.

Re: Just because the majority has spoken doesn't make them right.

Well each have our own concept of right and wrong...and sometimes we fight to convince other people of our own view. . which is what I meant by "Fighting the good fight"

But as a nation, as a society, as a collective conscious, the majority rules.. and it is the majority that determines what is right and what is wrong for itself. However, what the majority now concludes is "right" today may not be "right" by future standards, but that remains to be seen.

Just a lurker. You're smarter than the average bear, Child of Zion. I hope you're right about McCain and Giuliani, especially McCain. I may have come off like a raging liberal in my previous post, but I actually voted for McCain in the 2000 primary here in California (I don't know if that's where you are or not). I think he may be the only truly honest politician left in this country ( ... )
