I'm sick and tired of the right and left wing extremists like Michael Moore and Ann Coulter, who are tearing this country apart.. I'm tired the so-called "bleeding hearts" that spew hatred against Bush and the Republicans.. I'm tired of the nebbishy rebels without a cause saying that they'll move to Canada because our freedoms are being flushed ( Read more... )

Re: Just because the majority has spoken doesn't make them right.

Well each have our own concept of right and wrong...and sometimes we fight to convince other people of our own view. . which is what I meant by "Fighting the good fight"

But as a nation, as a society, as a collective conscious, the majority rules.. and it is the majority that determines what is right and what is wrong for itself. However, what the majority now concludes is "right" today may not be "right" by future standards, but that remains to be seen.

Re: You're right, this country isn't ready for gay marriage. And if it's not forced on them, they never will be.

Forced on them?

That's not true... you can make a valid point that that was the case in interracial marriage.. but a major reason that (given the current legal loopholes) gay marriage is not legal in most states is because it opens the gate to other "alternative lifestyles" like polygamists.. Americans aren't ready, but we're being eased into it with civil unions (the rose by the other name). In 15 years Gays and Lesbians will be able to get married..

We just need a majority in the government to agree with us and that's where we come in to exercise our right to change minds. There are still quite a few people, if not most, who still think that Homosexuality is a choice. and they're not about to give them the title of marriage. This is not something that can be forced.. there is a whole mindset that needs to be changed.

Re: it's all about a neoconservative revolution that began with Reagan, went on hiatus while Clinton was in office and came back with a vengeance under Bush. It's a political philosophy that encourages religion in government, big business over the individual, and the eternal suppression of everything that's different.

Reagan and Bush exhibited very different ideas in social conservatism.. but I believe Neoconservativism will be phased out as the dominant force in the party within the next 10 years.. with the rising popularity of liberal republicans such as Schwarzenegger, Pataki, Giuliani and McCain.. the republican party will begin to shift to the left socially. And the republicans will rally behind either Giuliani or McCain (one of which will become our next president) in 2008 and that will be the beginning of the end for the neoconservatives.
