Two gallons and then some....

Gave platelets today. Actually turned out perfectly: no rain, which meant I got to use the car instead of busing it back and forth from the Red Cross. Got there when they had a bit of a rush, so I waited and waited and waited in a question room. But this meant that I got to watch almost the entire Australia-Italy game; in fact, the nurse was unhooking me as Italy scored to win at the end. (The announcers pronounced bewilderment with Australia's game plan being a man up most of the second half, and I have to agree. Um, hello? Put more strikers up there, sub some fresh legs in, do something instead of pass the ball around and wish it was tea time. And I wasn't even rooting for the stupid Aussie bastards.)

I was fine until I got home, and then I just crashed. Slept very deeply for three hours, got up to tell Mom I was awake and was so achy that I wasn't going to go workout with her. My ice cream scooping muscles (inner forearms), my wrists, and the inside of my elbows hurt. This didn't happen last time, but I don't think they took a double helping of platelets last time, either.

Oh, the wonderfully fun world of giving blood. It wasn't all bad: Red Robin's strawberry lemonade (with real strawberries) was fantastic.
