Yo, President Bush Karl Rove. Just a few bones to pick with you. Stop blaming the Governor of Louisiana for not declaring a state of emergency. 'Cause she
totally did, three days before Katrina hit. And then
she wrote a letter to Bush to make sure the president knew that New Orleans and Louisiana would not be able to handle the hurricane on their own. Google's amazing, isn't it?
Fire Michael Brown and restore FEMA. FEMA deserves people who can deal with disasters. Simple as that. Something this important shouldn't be filled by a political crony, but by someone who is prepared to deal with the logistics of disasters. There's no reason not to fire Brown, and frankly, the fact that
this isn't as outrageous as what he's done so far shows how incompetent he is. If you're still dithering over firing Brown,
here's a good fucking reason to do it right now.
And to continue on my rant of accountability, doesn't the buck stop with the president? Let's check the
White House Press Briefing of September 6th.
Q I just want to follow up on David's questions on accountability. First, just to get you on the record, where does the buck stop in this administration?
(White House Press Secretary) MR. McCLELLAN: The President.
Oh, yeah, it does. So shut the fuck up,
Moonie Times. If
Bush Senior, Clinton, and even goddamn Dick Nixon were able to deal with hurricanes by preparing before the hurricane, I'd say this president dropped the ball. Wouldn't you, Karl?
Of course you wouldn't, you sick bastard. I believe
Jon Stewart said it best. Jon?
I'm going to say this: there's a lot of confusion over, uh, blame and pointing fingers and, uh, the response to the obviously horrible tragedy of the Hurricane Katrina in News Orleans and whether or not the government did enough, whether or not there was some miscommunication, some bureaucratic bungling. So let me just say this, the short answer is this: yes. The long answer, of course--YEEEEEESSSSSS! The real question is that in the four years since 9/11, you have to ask yourself, has the government's advancements, procedures, etcetera, made us safer, given us more comfort that they will have an effective, or more effective, response to catastrophic events, and I think it's very clear that the answer is "oh shit, we're in trouble."
Now, for the people who're saying "well, stop pointing fingers at the president, left wing, the media's being so hard...." No. Shut up. No. This is inarguably, INARGUABLY, a failure of leadership from the top of the federal government. Now, now, this is--Bill Clinton, I don't know if you remember this. When Bill Clinton went out with Monica Lewinsky, that was inarguably a failure of judgment at the top. Democrats had to come out and risk losing credibility if they did not condemn Bill Clinton for this behavior. I believe Republicans are in the same position right now, and I will say this: Hurricane Katrina is George Bush's Monica Lewinsky. One difference, and I'll say this. The only difference is this: that tens of thousands of people weren't stranded in Monica Lewinsky's vagina. That is the only difference. Although, this is an interesting point: her vagina at the time was known as "The Superdome". Very few people knew that. Or, uh. I'm sorry. Do you prefer "The Big Easy"?
But that is my point, so please, stop with the "waah, people are carping on the--" He didn't even stop his vacation for three days. So, please. Just shut up.
