Went to see my advisor today because over the past few days I had myself convinced I was in the most dire of straights in regards to the Fall '11 semester and a December graduation. I worried for nothing. I have all my requirements done (but for one), I am already have more art history classes then I need for my minor, and only need to take four classes next term and will end up graduating with more than I need. No more stressing for me! (over that at least)
The Lineup:
- senior seminar, tbd ( the one last history hurrah)
- art history class, tbd
- intro to creative writing
-
#%$@%!!, I have no idea what to take for my final elective, something practical like accounting *barf*? something fun like 2d drawing? something I haven't thought of?
- PE class, archery or volleyball (tho I'm tempted to ice skating again, haha)
My ice skating instuctor is adorable. She skated up to me to ask how my weekend at West Point went. She was like, "I was thinking of you when I was in Rhode Island." awww. Today I discovered I like jumping better than spinning. "But Lexi," you say, "You are a thrower, spinning is what you do!" actually the ice skating jumps are much more similar to the movements for a discus or hammer spin than ice skating spinning is. With spinning I have to stay in one place, pivoting on the ball and toe of the skate, with the jumps, how I move my leg and place my foot is closer to the steps in throwing spin. And I also move across the ice like I would move across a throwing ring. Strange but true.
I played a much better tennis game last night in compairson to last weeks tennis. Both sets went to tie breaks so our third match had to be a ten point tie breaker as well. It was a close loss. I did have one wild shot that almost took the face of the guy at the net off. So my old biddy of a partney goes, "Don't worry, she [me] has no control." I was like, "Um, you are getting a serve in the back of the head for that!" The irony of it was I had a row of amazing shots, serves and volleys after that. And each time she congratulated me I would tease her. I think she was kind of slap happy because after one good shot I made she turned to me and goes, "Yeah baby, that was gorgeous!" in a heavy Brooklyn accent. She also screamed when the ball almost hit her. So silly, I love it.
I was more excited to be on West Point campus then I was about my throws this weekend. The track was at the very bottom of the cliff the school is built into (It looks like a fortress!) so if I had thrown my hammer 100m it wouldve gone into the Hudson river (or hit a train). Unfortunatly there was a very cold breeze coming off the water so now the entire track team is sick, myself included.
Ok time to finish up a rambling discourse on art in Viking literature and go make cookies for my friend's b-day. The friend who I havent seen in ages cuz of his weird controling girlfriend. But tonight its cookies and vodka/coke!
