I had a stressful and busy day today. After talking to my mom, she told me that she and my dad would take me out to dinner so I could relax and not deal with cooking. We were having a quiet dinner when all of a sudden someone starts screaming in a section that was obstructed from our view. A few minutes later, an employee makes an announcement asking if there were any doctors or nurses in the restaurant.
Without hesitation, my mom jumps up to see if she could help. Apparently a two-year old collapsed, hit his head, and was seizing. They already called 911, but the parents were justifiably freaking out and the father kept rocking the child as if to snap him out of it.
I did not go over there because there were too many people and they had to have a clear space for when the EMTs arrived. Mom said that she had the father place him on the table. He threw up and stopped breathing. My mom started CPR. The child's father was terrified and wanted to do something. She had him blow into the airway while she pumped. EMTs arrived and took over.
Later, the child's mother stopped by our table crying to thank my mom. She couldn't stop sobbing, and my mom gave her a hug along with an email addy and phone number.
I hope the boy is okay.
