Random Musings: Holiday, Thanksgiving Prep, and Hello Kitty Edition

• A big thank you to all veterans for their service and commitment in honor of Veteran's Day today.

• It was nice to have a day off for the holiday in the middle of an extremely stressful and busy week. It was a great change of pace to be able to sleep in and catch up with household chores that have been neglected.

I also did some of the preliminary work for Thanksgiving which I am hosting at my home this year. I picked up the turkey today since I cleared a space in the freezer and reserved a ham from Honey Baked Ham. Since the guests liked the bottles I filled last year, I'm doing them again this year. It's too early to do the filling now, but I picked up the supplies today. Aside from the chocolate covered espresso beans and Jelly Belly jelly beans, I thought unpopped popcorn with flavored toppings tied to the top would be fun.

• Happy Birthday, Hello Kitty. I saw so many articles about her today and how the brand has lasted 35 years. I collected Sanrio items as a child and Hello Kitty was one of my favorites. I still have the pencils, notebooks, wallets, stamps, stickers, etc. Most are in pristine condition because I never used the stuff; I just liked to collect it.
