Random Musings: Heat and Tan Edition
• *lethargic* It's now day three of this heat wave from hell with no relief expected until the weekend. I've tried to stay as cool as possible; the weather is a real energy zapper. Tonight I had friends come over for dinner. I was planning to barbecue, but refrained due to the Spare the Air day notices. Instead I used the stovetop grill to cook the steak and veggies. *feels sick* Standing over an extremely hot stove made feel lightheaded. I was able to eat dinner and entertain my guests, but cleaning up afterwards drained my reserves. I flopped down on the sofa in front of the fan and fell asleep. It was an exceptionally hot day, and though I did my best to keep myself hydrated and rested, I'm still exhausted.
We all had two shaved ice snow cones each for dessert and fruit. It was all quite refreshing. I've taken to carting a bottle of iced water with me around the house. I also put a few ice cubes in my water spritzer so I can blast myself with cool water when the heat gets to me.
• I wore the silver heart linked bracelet my aunt and uncle gave me all last weekend; it's a series of hearts chained together. I have since taken it off and it looks like my wrist has a circlet tattoo of hearts.
It was my intention to stay online a little while longer to read your journals and post replies, but it's just too hot. I'll catch up with you tomorrow.
