I spent the last four days in the Tahoe/Reno area for the Independence Day festivities. It was a fun weekend filled with activities, relaxation, and my favorite people. Some highlights:
• I picked up several boxes of take-out pasta, green salad, bread, and tiramisu for the 4th picnic. We found a nice, shady spot by the shore and spent the day frolicking and cooling off in the water. Fireworks were viewed from the 22nd storey hotel room-perfect for gazing because we had an unobstructed view.
• Watched Wanted and Hancock during the weekend. They were surprisingly okay. Perhaps this was due to my state of mind-I was in a festive, lighthearted mood for most of the weekend.
• What is it with my family, friends, and Journey? I've never been a fan of this group, but I think some of their songs are pretty good. One of my friends is completely in love with them since they found a new lead singer and has been talking excessively, edjumackating me enthusiastically sharing information about them. During last month's trip, I was able to talk knowledgeably about them to my Journey-fan-family simply because of my friend's sharing and even tell them things they didn't know. Anyway, there was a band playing called Journey Unauthorized. I was able to see and hear the whole concert from my hotel room; they did a good job with the songs.
• The weekend was nicely rounded out with shopping, boating, and hiking. It was a great way to spend the holiday off.
And I come home to a heat wave. *melts* It's so hot right now that I feel like taking a third shower for the day-preferably an icy cold one.
