Ah -- B&N does NOT have free WiFi, but Caribou gives you the first hour free, and a second hour free if you order a beverage worth at least $1.50, and two hours anywhere just to take advantage of the wireless is plenty.  The iced latte was well worth it, as well ( Read more... )

Well, quite a day.  Got to my presentation in Cary alright but realized as I was setting up the equipment that I forgot the notes pages for the PP -- of course all new stuff so I haven't "learnt" it yet.  Lots of tap dancing to get through, and luckily one of the audience knew a lot about Egypt, so I let him fill in whenever he wanted to.  Gotta ( Read more... )

Update to MALS project -- found Orson Scott Card's Empire this weekend, which would give me three dystopian novels written 2004 and later (Oryx and Crake, Off Armageddon Reef, and Empire) that fit the profile of what I really want to research, which is the changes that happened to dystopian issues since 9/11.  Dr. Wald agrees, so off I go.  No more ( Read more... )
