so yeah, bamboozle is this weekend. i wasn't too excited at first, but the closer and closer it comes to it, im really fucking stoked that were playing. were on at 11:50-12:15 at the dream makers mp3 stage, and as much as it sounds like it sucks, everyone on line has to pass us before they hit the main stage. hopefully we can draw a decent crowd. its pretty rad too, that i get to inadvertently open up for lifetime, who if it wasn't for them, i wouldn't write the way i do. dan and ari from lifetime, along with chris from saves the day, whose also playing are my biggest influences, and its incredible that i get to play the same show as them, even though were not on the same stage or anything. its still cool. don't be a dick and tell me its not.
im actually going off on a limb and saying that being able to play a show the same day as those two bands is the probably the coolest thing ive ever done. i mean, what people that start bands can honestly say that they got to play with the bands that made them pick up a guitar? come on, lifetime, saves the day, afi...i can't beat that. you can try to convince me all day that since im not playing the same stage, it doesn't matter...but it really does, and its unfortunate that its just really hitting me now, just how fucking crazy it is that im able to do this. im not a cocky person, but at times like this, i have to be, and what it boils down to, is that i get to (inadvertently) open up for the most important band in my life.
its like august when i got to see them play at the pony. when you see a band like lifetime, its like every negative thing thats ever happened to you just gets fucking erased out of your mind, and for however hour or so long they're on stage you just get time traveled back to the first time you hear the style of music that ultimately changes everything for you, and for those 10 songs or so that they'll fit into the disappointingly short set they've been given, everything is perfect. the baby cub has been returned to her mother, and all is right with the world, if only for thirty five minutes.
