so yeah, im pretty burnt out on talking about my car. so i don't have to explain it to anyone else, here's exactly what happened...
a kid drunkenly tore out of the parking lot at pine lake park club during the opening band's set. im 99.99999% sure he was drunk, because him and a bunch of other kids were drinking in or around his car when i pulled in, until i saw him pull out of the lot. also, they found a half filled liter bottle of bacardi in his car...but ill get to that later.
the kid hit my car on the back bumper, tearing it off, and fleeing the scene. after making sure that i wouldn't get the show shut down, i called the cops to find out that he was already pulled over for reckless driving. when i asked the majority of the kids who i thought might be of help, the majority either walked away or told me they wouldn't help. the estimate for the bumper itself is $1000.00. the kid's insurance company will be hearing from me once i get the police report. until then, manchester police wont even give me the name of his insurance company. i can't bring it to just anywhere, just in case his insurance company makes me bring it somewhere. i couldn't talk to the kid to get the information myself, because he was drunk and was under arrest for possession of marijuana.
after dealing with the police, (who was shane's cousin) i went inside to catch defiance, ohio's set. when i returned outside, i got in my car and started driving, i got out of the parking lot and realized that my side mirrors were both cracked and the physical mirrors themselves were gone and replaced with chewing gum. when i brought the car back to the side lot, (i wasn't going to risk my car getting vandalized more) there were kick marks from two distinct footprints, one a chuck taylor, and the other being some random cross trainer that i couldn't recognize. there were scratches on the side, above the lights, one of which was previously there. the back windshield wiper was also torn off, and apparently kept as a trophy, because i couldn't find it in the lot after the show. the estimate for the damages here came to $550.00. unfortunately, if i don't find the kids that vandalized my car, im going to have to pay for it myself.
what bothered me, is the fact that the kid who hit my bumper was brought back later that night to drive his car home. the cop found an open bottle of bacardi in his car, which i assumed, when brought back to the station, he would be given the breathalyzer. i know that if you refuse a breathalyzer, your liscence is revoked right there. i would have thought if given the breathalyzer, he would have failed. hearing the cop say something along the lines of, "should we chuck this" when referring to the alcohol makes me think that they didn't even get him for that. ill find out on friday when i pick up the police report.
so this sucks. im not going to be able to bring my car to an approved shop for a new estimate until friday. this means that no work on my car will probably even start till monday, however if im lucky, it will start on saturday. i only hope that i have my car for my birthday, and more importantly my new job which i just got, delivering food again. although i don't want to be seen as a "sue happy american" it sucks that i can't file a suit on anyone, because lawyer fees are too exorbitant for the problem, even though by these kids fucking up my car, its not only keeping me from driving to class without my parent's car, its making it harder to keep my job which i need to pay off the damage they caused.
i put it on here, because im really sick of telling people the story. after i tell people what happened to my car, the majority of responses have been nothing but rude...the most popular being, "thats what you get for driving a toaster". yeah, its a toaster, but i happen to like it. next time you're in a bind, ill be sure to nit pick and poke fun at your misfortunes too.
