Okay - so Friday I slacked and had a rest day. I got a lot accomplished... just no running :-/
So today I kinda made up for it, and for Sunday too because Sunday is a rest day as well. I ended up running 9.5 miles. Kinda weird, because it didn't feel like it. Granted, it wasn't all run non-stop, but kinda broke down like this:
2 miles from home to Helen Putnam Regional Park in Petaluma
* 10-minute stretch break *
4.5 miles running around Helen Putnam Regional Park
* 10-minute stretch break *
2 miles from Helen Putnam Regional Park to home, last .2 miles as cooldown
* 15-minute stretching cooldown *
I was gone about an hour and a half in total. Man did I feel good when I got back. I started out feeling kinda blah, like I had this huge insurmountable task in front of me. But then I got out on the trails at Helen Putnam and it was great.
Helen Putnam Regional Park was my home course in my high school cross-country days, and had the dubious reputation of being the worst/hardest course in the league. Mainly because the park is extremely hilly, and there is almost no level ground on the course, save for maybe a hundred yards in one spot. I didn't run the course exactly but ran parts of it. So many memories...
