So, tracking test today.  Pretty decent weather for it, though a bit windy.  The fields were beautiful and the tracks were all really fair and passable.  Sadly, there was only one pass and it wasn't on the track I laid.  Talking about it, we think it's because the winter was so crappy no one could get out and track, but thinking about it further ( Read more... )

I'm laying track for DMOTC this weekend for their TD test.  TD tracks are 440 to 500 yards long with 3 to 5 turns, a personal article at the beginning and a glove at the end.  DMOTC will supply the glove and possibly the personal article, though I have plenty of those if they don't.  Tomorrow is plotting day where all the tracks are laid out and ( Read more... )

Excellent tracking day today. It was cool (some might consider it cold) and damp. We were in a new tracking location (the old middle school and the Arboretum) which proved to be awesome. So, in TDX, there are four articles on the track. Three of them are supposed to be articles of a personal nature--a scarf or a belt or socks or a sneaker (I've had all those in tests). Your dog has to find them and you have to have them at the end of the test. Therefore, you have to have something to carry said articles in. And it has to be ( Read more... )

The tracking test--the first for our local kennel club--went off without a hitch. We had two dogs pass--the first dog and the last dog. The first dog was a Briard and my understanding from the owner is that it's the first Briard in 15 years to get a tracking title. So, woo!!
