Ladylike

When I was 10, my cousin came back to the States with his new French wife. She was the iconic French woman. She wore a black, sleeveless turtleneck tunic and a long sweater and I think black pants. She had flawless skin and a short, 5-point style haircut (her hair was dyed black as well) and smoked thin cigarettes that didn't smudge her perfect shade of red lipstick. I think it was a singular event in my life that set me on my current course of adoration for Christian Dior and Chanel, Vidal Sasson's haircuts, clean lines in all clothes and furniture, but most of all, my love of all things 'ladylike.'

The last time I was in London, I spent an afternoon at Harrods. It was a zoo! I emerged with a few trinket gifts for my friends--keychains and the like-- and a very pricey wallet for myself as a birthday present.

And now this will haunt me. Harrod's link: http://www.harrods.com/product/mulberry/chocolate-french-purse/000000000002022809?cat1=accessories&cat2=for-her-wallets-purses
