So, now that there are a few shows back on, I need to make a few comments:
It was a cute episode, but it was very difficult to feel like anyone was in any danger. Even as hundreds of people were killed! Nobody seemed to care that much, it was weird. And those gargoyles were complete not!terrifying. Arthur was an adorable, oblivious prat, as usual. And Merlin was adorably in love. "Everything I do, I do for him!' ♥
Californication is apparently not back until this Sunday, but there have been pre-air files around which I couldn't resist. They're even MORE vulgar this year, it seems. It quite hilarious and outrageous. And absolutely filled with familiar faces. Peter Gallagher, Kathleen Turner (who really and truly looks like a man) and Ed Westwick (who's got a big ol' melodramatic crush on Hank. Which is fun! I loved Hank's imaginary, stolen, gay experience from his youth. Just to comfort the guy! Hee!). Anyway, highly entertaining stuff, even as they're trying very hard to be provoking.
And finally, a rec. I'm still catching up on all the fiction posted this summer and yesterday I finished one of best ones yet:
Ashes of the Moon by
corbyinoz (J2, AU)
It's definitely not for the faint of heart; it's grim and terrifying and very sad in many ways. But it's also intensely beautiful. The way she describes their surroundings, what's happening around them, what's happening inside them makes it all seem incredibly real. It's not that often that I've read such ambitious fanfiction, in that it takes on a much bigger issue, alongside the slash. It makes for a very intriguing story indeed and one that can be read as an original story.
