Not every summer blockbuster/release can be Batman: The Dark Knight. Sometimes (read: often) they are something considerably less. This, however, does not mean that they're bad. Just... less good.

Sometimes the phrase 'over the top' just isn't enough to describe something. This is one of those cases. )

That said, being the OCD Comic Book Movie freak that I am, I'll end up w/ a copy of it on DVD, but only one of my friend's pirate copies (hell, the pirate cases look better than the store-bought-ones anyways! ;) )

Apparently, even SMeyer fans have their limits. I just read at cleolinda’s LJ that bookstores across the country were reporting dozens of returns of Breaking Dawn-the day after it came out. So folks bought the book, stayed up reading it, and then marched to the store demanding their money back.

Actually, that is very similar to what happened with Laurell K. Hamilton's latest Anita Blake book (Blood Noir).
And the woman has no idea that people hate her books. A novelist friend of mine who writes an urban fantasy vampire series (name omitted since she likes to protect her novelist persona) said that she once emailed Hamilton to ask what Hamilton does when she gets bad reviews, and she got an email back from Hamilton's assistant saying, "As a world famous author, Laurell does not get bad reviews."
Also, cleolinda rules.

I did enjoy the movie; I whooped and hollered and laughed throughout. I just also enjoy poking fun at the movie because really, what it boils down to is that they're killing people because a sewing machine told them to.
