Okay, so that job I got? Didn't actually get it yet. When they said I should come down today for "pre-employment", they meant an interview and some testing. Or really, I guess they meant pre-employment without the guarantee of employment afterward. Grr. But they did say they'd notify me either way, so I'll at least find out if I don't get it. And if I don't, I can sign up for something at the temp agency after we get home from NC (something closer to home, even). It's just annoying, that's all, considering the way the woman I talked to on the phone worded everything. I wish people would be more specific about things.
Plus, I think I bombed the interview. :\ Hopefully my experience will win out and they'll hire me anyway. Even though it's like a half hour from home, that's still better than no job, right? Or if they don't hire me, maybe I'll find something good through the temp agency. *crosses fingers for something good*

I went to the library after the interview and got some interesting stuff. I had basically planned on only getting the book that we're going to be reading in
aboutbooks, but I ended up getting five books and six DVDs. At the worst possible time, too, since I'm planning on trying to read the first six HP books before Deathly Hallows comes out next week. After I finish my current book, that is (200 pages left!). Yikes. So that gives me ~3 weeks to read the following books:
The Brief History of the Dead by Kevin Brockmeier (for
aboutbooks)
Songbook by Nick Hornby
Hollywood Urban Legends by Richard Roeper (yes, I know he pretty much sucks most of the time, but it looked interesting!)
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
Thunderstruck by Erik Larson
As for DVDs, I got
Proof (yay, Jake!),
1776 (the Restored Director's Cut),
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (which I will most likely fail to watch again, despite having checked it out more than ten times and never watching it), and the PBS Special Broadway: The American Musical (this is three discs in three separate cases, so they count it as three selections). Hmm, want to make any bets about how many of these I actually watch? I'm betting on two at the most.
OMG, the guy who plays Tobias Ragg in that production of Sweeney Todd is named Ken Jennings. It made me picture the Ken Jennings from Jeopardy, which was a highly amusing mental image.

So, that was pretty much my day. Along with an unintentional nap, which really left me feeling just as tired as when I fell asleep. So, hopefully I'll be able to sleep tonight, since last night was pretty much a bust (~3 hours. WTF, brain?!). Since I'm going to be doing so much reading this next week, what with six HP books and 200 pages of the end of Zodiac Unmasked by Robert Graysmith (as a side note, why are there no @#$%^& extras on the Zodiac DVD?! I really wanted that for my birthday, but I hate the idea of double dipping, cause you know there will be a SE in time for Christmas) to get through, I probably won't be online much. But I am going to try to post thoughts after each Potter book. Last minute observations and possible theories if I have time. The movie really got me energized for that again, so hopefully I'll actually be able to.
Oh, and on the major plus side, I finally figured out (with the help of Google) how to fix my stupid taskbar/quick launch icons, which had gotten big and blurry when I had to boot in safe mode one time. They're all regular sized and crisp now, yay!
And now, to attempt sleep. Later, y'all!
