Saw Order of the Phoenix today. I wasn't that eager about seeing this one, since I wasn't that crazy about the book (it was better on a re-read, though), so I had decided not to do the midnight showing. We were at the movies last Sunday, so we got tickets for today's first showing at 12:40 while we were there. Basically, this was because they're raising the ticket prices starting Friday, so I figured we'd try for a cheaper rate. Plus, the first show of the day is usually cheaper. I say usually, since this wasn't. I don't know if it's because it was HP, or if it's because there was actually a 12:00 show as well. Don't know why the girl didn't give me tickets for 12:00, but it worked out fine in the end, since the theater was already pretty full when we got there forty five minutes early.
And after not being excited at all about seeing this, I think it may actually be my favorite of the movies! I haven't seen PoA except for the one time, though, so I think I'd have to rewatch that to decide for sure, cause I loved that one. This one was definitely the best adaptation. They managed to take that behemoth of a book and compress it into two hours plus of coherent storylines. Very impressive. I think I want to see it again before I attempt a review, though. Maybe I'll be able to find an IMAX theater!
When we were at the movies on Sunday, we saw Live Free or Die Hard. I've never seen a Die Hard movie before this (I know), so I'm sure there were some subtle little inside jokes that I missed, but overall I thought it was pretty damn good. A little unbelievable, but then what action movie isn't (Tom Cruise defying the laws of physics when swinging off that building in MI:3, anyone?). Plus, Timothy Olyphant was hot as the villain. But when is he not hot I ask you? Never, exactly.
I definitely want to watch Die Hard now.

Also, I got a job! Actual details tomorrow, since I have a pre-employment thing to attend at 12:30, so I'll find them out then. :) I think it's basically filling out paperwork and picking what shift I want to work, since the actual training starts on August 6th. I'm glad I was able to find something before we left for NC. This way, when people inevitably ask what I'm doing, I can say my job starts on the 6th! Plus, I didn't have to get a job where I would risk missing the vacation, or have another interview where they didn't hire me because I wanted to go out of town for a week. So it works out great! I just hope I can get a good schedule that will allow me to be able to go to the two events that I have tickets for in the next couple of months (Fiona Apple/Nickel Creek concert and Cirque du Soleil) without having to call off.
So, right now I have to get directions to the place I'm working, and print out my resume/job information so that I have it for filling out paperwork and stuff. Must also bring the checkbook in case of direct deposit.
And I should try to get some sleep tonight, since that hasn't been going so well lately. :(
