So, I haven't posted in an age, and this isn't really a real post either, since I'm really busy right now. :( I'm attempting to organize my bedroom/get rid of stuff, while simultaneously find a new job. More on all that later. This is just a quick rec post because I just had to, really. One fic, one piece of art, and one vid, oddly enough. All Supernatural. All gen. All highly recommended.
Always Some Door Open by Anonymous for
spn_summergen (7,399 words; PG-13; Gen) - Dean is having a weird-ass day. So is Agent Henrickson. Okay, this fic is just so awesome I can't stand it. First of all, it's GEN BODYSWAP, which, if that doesn't make you drop everything to read it right now, then I don't know what to do with you. :) It's also really in character, which is pretty impressive, since it's from the POV of a character that we know little to nothing about. But the real reason I loved this fic so much is that oddly enough, I got bunnied by this idea several months ago, and I was incredibly bummed out because I thought it would make for a totally cool fic, but god knows with the way I work it would sit in the basic prompt stage forever and never even flesh itself out into an idea. Now, I don't have to do anything, because it's been written for me! Well, actually for
minim_calibre, but, hey, it was posted exactly one month before my birthday, so I'm going to consider it a cosmic present from the universe. Thanks universe! And thanks awesome anonymous author! You've certainly made my day, if not the next several days.
Bodyswap by
joosetta (Art; G; Gen) - I don't know how she did it, but man, this is one of those times where that cliche "a picture's worth a thousand words" really fits. I mean, you'd think it wouldn't be possible to convey something like bodyswap without movement or text, but apparently it is possible. This drawing really does tell an entire story right there. From the clothes, to the hair, to the expressions (Sam's expression on Dean's face, man!), to the postures, this just is bodyswap, yo. Just incredible, really.
Supernatural Five-O by
ash48 (Vid; TV-PG; Gen) This vid is just brilliant. Great pacing, great clip choice, great (and hilarious) concept. It really feels like a credit sequence out of the 60s/70s. And the "and Jim Beaver as Bobby Singer" made me squee like the huge Bobby fan that I am.
So, I hope to have time to post again soon. *crosses fingers* For now, enjoy the recs!
