I made these instead of traditional Hot Cross Buns on Good Friday. Since Bacchus was away over Easter I had to eat them all myself. It was terrible...

Long time no posting, but things are just busy at the moment & without a working laptop, getting around to posting is difficult. I can’t quite believe Summerfest has been and gone for another year, though the piles of washing I’ve had and boxes to put away prove it. As usual I have no clue what the plot was, but people seemed to be having a good time and that’s the main thing*.

I should point out that it's not a good idea to make jam on hot days, it results in you dripping with sweat, which then you have to be careful doesn't go in the jam. If the weather stays like this it will make for a lovely Summerfest, but it will be hell, quite literally in the kitchen (if you take a literal version of hell to be hot and full of ( Read more... )

Next on the list of things today was some more jam. I love raspberries, so raspberry jam it was. Unfortunately the raspberry crop from the garden has been minimal so far, only about half a pound, so it was Sainsbury's to the rescue. I use Jam sugar, it makes jam so easy it seems like it's cheating, but it allow the fruit to retain a wonderful fresh ( Read more... )

I've had a day of doing lots of cooking today. Not the wisest of moves on a blisteringly hot day but at least some of the things were frozen, like the ( Cream Cheese Ice Cream )

Yet again I'm behind with posting things, but oh well. Anyway this is an account of the exciting thing I did on the last Bank Holiday Monday in May, which was make Halloumi cheese.
