Shot
Voices filled his hearing. Crew arguing, fighting. The wall of sound pressed against him, no words discernable. A painful push behind his eyes. He listened harder, trying to find the words, the meaning behind the angry tones surrounding them.
A small hand snaked into his unusually quiescent one. Limp, he controlled nothing. Wanted to snatch his hand away, retreat from the contact. He couldn’t move, had no power to withdraw. A tickle in his head. A whisper of the words he couldn’t hear.
Shot.
He recoiled. There was no feeling, no pain except the sound of agitated voices.
