Hey everyone, thought id let you all know what ive been upto recently. As of wednesday 28th July i have been in Dallas Texas on holiday. Man i love america. Marcus and i are having a great time. Thursday we had a lazy day and just went to Target and Wallmart (we needed to stock up on blue jello and pudding). Friday we went to Grapevine Mills, jumbo mall...yay for Old Navy sales, got some nice hoodies and jeans. Also picked up a new leather jacket at Wilson's leather...Steak n Shake for lunch...the shakes are more like a dessert...so tastey.
Marcus has come up with a great analogy about the weather, its real hot and the temperature is close to 40c in the day (tripple digets in F) and about 28c at night. The wind is hot, its so wierd not being cooling, Marcus has compaired it having a hairdryer blowing on you...does feel like that. Ive actually not got sunburnt yet which is a surprise to me as i burn easily.
Saturday was the hottest day so far so of course we decided to go to Traders Village in Grande Prarie. Its this mungo huge outdoor flea market, lots of stuff to look at but soo hot! You know what they say about mad dogs and english men but there were loads of people there too.
After that we decided to go over to Fort Worth Stockyards. Its like cowtown, they have a real cattle herd (15 or so) driven down the main street twice a day, they are long horned cows, my word do their horns get long. Anyhow i digress, we had lunch at Riskey's bbq, very tasty.
We had a look at a cowboy museum, saw the Grapevine train (a retro desil train..wish it had been the steam one), saw a mock gunfight and bought some Texas chili seasoning.
Then to Billy Bob's...where to start? Its i guess you could call it a night club, but nothing like we have at home...its for country music. They had a live house band, that were really good...what was wierd was seeing people dance the same dance at the same time in unison...its a little unnerving...cool to watch...but so strange...do they all take lessons or some thing? Not just older folks dancing the younger people were the same.
Anyhow we paid to see Leanne Womack later in the evening, she was pretty good too. I dont really know much about C&W music but the locals were hoopin' an' hollerin' so she must have been good.
And that leads us to sunday, currently we are watching the nascar pre-show, Marcus loves nascar but we are thinking of going out to lunch.
More updates in the week, we have pony treking and some other bits booked up.
Laters!
