Just realised ive not posted in like ages...bad Emma. So what have i been upto recently?
Well on friday the 17th Marcus took me away to the Cotswolds for the weekend. The hotel was really nice, the food was fab! Marcus also arranged some surprise activities for us to do....stuff he knew i would really like. On the saturday we started off at a wildlife park...i love watching animals. We could get so close to the giraffes it was unbelievable...they are huge and two of them wern't even fully grown! The monkeys are always fun to watch too, tho the lemur enclosure was great too, you could walk right through it. One of the ringtailed lemurs looked like he was meditating or practicing yoga...wish we had been in a good position to take a picture it looked so funny.
After a bite to eat, he then took me to a falconry centre....i love birds of prey. I could watch falconry displays all day, they are such majestic creatures. The centre not only educate the public on different birds of prey, they bred them, did displays and trained the birds. The most unusual feature (i've never seen it done anywhere else), is that rather than box the birds up for the displays, they open up which ever particular enclosure they need and let the birds decide if they want to participate in the 'performance' (its not the right word but its the closest i could think of). It also means the birds can 'choose' not to go back in after their bit has finished. I thought that was a really great idea. When the man let the four kites out, one decided he was just gonna go sit in a tree for an hour or so not participate in what the other birds were doing...but when he decided it was time for him to go home to the enclosure he did. How wonderful is that?
The falconry centre also let some of the audience fly the birds to the glove...i've never done this before but i got to fly a great grey owl (think feather duster with eyes) and an eagle (the type of which eludes me). It was so cool, i have no other words for it. The other cool thing about the centre is that they did displays ever 1 and 1/2 hours with different birds each time...we pretty much stayed there all afternoon!
Hmm...what else? Oh i know, i joined a gym...my weight has been creeping up for about 7years now and its started to get me down...id been thinking of joining a gym for a while but didn't want to go on my own (everyone needs a gym buddy). A no frills gym has just literally opened where i live (you cant go wrong with 14.99 per month with no contract) so i've been hitting the gym a couple of times a week with Marcus...iv'e already lost a couple of pound...not much i know but its a start.
My birthday was last week, i didn't do much really...had a party tea with the kids i look after, (come on we all love kids party teas...jelly and ice cream anyone?), Marcus bought me an Ebook reader...think he's having a dig at my overflowing bookshelf! But this thing is awsome...i can carry around 1200 books around with me and not need a whopping great wheelbarrow. Now to get my entire book collection on it...
And well thats my life in September really...
