Day 5. Game Character You Are Most Like
This is Rita from Tales of Vesperia and I have been told by a lot of people who have played the game that she is a lot like me if I happened to be a huge lesbian. She's intelligent, bizarre, arrogant, well-known and possessed of oftentimes poor social graces thanks to her overbearing personality. It's a pretty fair assessment and I gotta admit, in terms of character design and colour motif, she's kind of got a "me" thing going on. Rita is sort of a toned-down version of an archetype that I feel quite personally attuned to-
Featured above: Anise Tatlin of Tales of the Abyss, Lemina Ausa of Lunar: Eternal Blue and Precis Neumann of Star Ocean: The Second Story
- you know this character. She's that precocious, obnoxious girl you get in your party near the end of recruitment. She's a back row fighter- sometimes a mage, but more often than not using something weird like a robot arm or a giant stuffed animal. She has peculiar values and foggy morals and is made of equal parts endearing and aggravating. Of course, real people are too complex to be broken down into stereotypes like this, but I figure if someone ever made a JRPG out of real life, I would be exactly this character down to the ribbons in my hair.
Day 6. Most Annoying Character

Like, just everyone in this game, okay.
I am going to name on one hand every character I actually like in Final Fantasy VIII.
Squall. Seifer. Cid and Edea. Raijin and Fujin. Laguna and his bros.
Okay, well, maybe that took two hands but still, that's pretty much everyone in the main party that I can't stand. Selphie and Irvine are tolerable as well but neither of them receive enough character development to be truly endearing.
THAT BEING SAID- I do not actually hate FFVIII. I've been harsh on it in the past for its sub-par cast, weird third disc and overall failure in plot experiment and execution, however I love the Junction system (in theory; fighting is a pain in that game), I love the atmosphere and the design and the grand romantic ideals (as in Seifer's definition of romance, not Rinoa's) and even the weird parts of the storytelling that DID work.
But seriously. Annoying. Fucking. Characters.
Day 7. Favourite Video Game Couple
I can't
even
find a picture of them
D: D: D:
Anyways this is Nash and Mia. They're two of the core cast members in Lunar: The Silver Star Story/Complete, better known as, I dunno, like the best archetypal 2D fantasy JRPG ever made okay. Lunar is a love story full of smaller love stories within the context of a greater love story. The game actually pairs up the entire main cast and somehow doesn't manage to feel cheesy- each of the main three relationships is given ample and believable development, however Nash/Mia has always been my favourite because it's the most subtly complicated of the bunch. Sure, they don't bicker all the time like Kyle and Jessica and they don't have destiny and an Evil Emperor keeping them apart like Alex and Luna, but Nash and Mia both have some internal complexities that makes them an interesting dynamic. Mia is shy and wilting, but ultimately a strong person. Nash is brash and arrogant, but ultimately weak willed and cowardly. His nerd-crush on her is apparent from the beginning, but despite the fact Mia seems to be about the only person in the world who actually enjoys his company, it still takes about twenty hours of gameplay to discern how she actually feels about him after he [SPOILER] [SPOILERS] because he's an idiot and then [SPOILER] [SPOILER] in the silliest boss fight ever featured in a situation worthy of gravitas.

Day 5. The Pairing With the Least Chemisty
I say "Least Chemisty" because the whole joke with Brock and Doc Venture is that the show could imply they're gay more often than it does because with the whole "worst father in the world" and "bad ass secret agent mother" family unit thing they've got going on, there's lots of odd-couple comedy potential there, but it doesn't. The two of them are very straight in their very opposite ways and shipping them is kind of missing the joke. I don't even know if this technically counts for the meme because "ship" tends to imply some sort of fandom activity and Adult Comedy Cartoon fanfic is something I have always been pretty "......... rly?" about.
But I mean. C'mon.
"Brock, hold me."
"No."
For those of you who have no idea what the hell this show is, it is called
The Venture Bros. and it is the best show ever go watch it immediately.
Day 6. The Best Kiss
I don't even give a crap about stuff like this, so just take a super intense scene from Oz and the greatest love story ever told. There's a kiss in it.

Day 7. The Most Heartbreaking Scene
Baaaw baaaw Wolfwood's death in the anime is pretty sad too. But this is a pairing meme and I don't ship Vash/Wolfwood in the anime.
BUT THE MANGA
OH THE MANGA
Everything about the process of Wolfwood's death in the manga is like eighteen fucking garden instruments in the heart. From the way he dies protecting the Orphanage where he grew up ("Everything you love is going to be turned to ash, Nicholas."), to fighting his old friend Livio, to the fact that he feels resigned to die locked in violence even though he doesn't want to and then Vash shows up in that way he does (intentionally framed as religious)-
- and then they snark and bicker like old times and you think that everything might be okay even though we just saw the rest of that goddamn fight and we know it's not going to be-
- and then they have a drink together because they know it's not going to be okay-
- AND THEN THE LAST GODDAMN THING WOLFWOOD ASKS BEFORE HE DIES IS FOR VASH TO JUST SMILE.
I actually like how this was phrased better in the old scanlation I used to have: "C'mon, Spikey, smile. You always look better when you smile." and then, "I'm sorry I said your smile was empty. It's beautiful." This one's a little more starkly literal than interpretively literal.
AND VASH DOESN'T SMILE.
AND IS NEVER THE SAME AGAIN AFTER THIS HAPPENS.
