94 ish today. Gross. Well, it's been so nice for so long, I guess it has to end. The grass is crispy and brown in most places. The ground is powder dry (we did a dig today and yes, it's powder all the way down). Need to water the trees again. What rain we get here and there isnt really enough. Just keeps the weeds happy.
The lad is in week 4 of working. Today he hit his head on some falling computer stuff and got a nice gash on his forehead. Seems like they are working him hard. lol. In the air conditioned buisness. Aww, life is hard. lol.
A few years ago I raised Wren, and this year the wild wren's have had their babies and are now out of the nest. I think they may be contemplating a second batch as I've heard them singing up a storm. No sign of them using the nest though.. We'll see.
My garden is doing well. Onions, potatoes, and cabbage are all growing and some beans and assorted squashes or something. I have no hope of actually getting a squash as the bugs always kill the vine, but hope springs eternal. I'm also trying to get some garlic to grow, just for fun. but so far only one has sent up any greens. And my Irises are being attacked by iris borers. I did find a way to get rid of them without having to cut every one out. I soaked the tubers in water for a day or so, which given the heat turned to very hot water. Seems to have suffocated them and they vacated the tubers trying to get to air. Now I have to re plant them all. And its way too hot. I'm starting another flower garden in the middle of my lawn, because who needs grass anyway? But had to stop because of the heat. I'll keep at it though. Maybe that's where the irises will end up?
