College! FUCK COLLEGE. Seriously. I am so sick of all things that have to do with college. And it's only just begun. Went to an informational session at the school Tues. night with my neighbor, who has a perfect child with perfect athletic ability. Lives and breaths sports. Yay team. Knows what he wants to do. Perfect parents apparently. Well, there are two other children not quite so perfect so there is hope.. :/ I never went to college. For a while I thought it would be cool to go to art school, but that meant I would have to take a language and math and other shit that has nothing whatsoever to do with art and which I had no interest in whatsoever. It's a scam. Yes, that's right. College is a flipping scam. They take as much of your money as they can while they have you, and in the end, how much of that education do you use? I can see a doctor, even a lawyer needing a college education (and even that must be loaded with crap they dont use) but for the most part, it's a money game. An industry.
When I was considering college it was all about 'having that piece of paper' on your resume. Not that it meant you learned anything, but you spent the money and came out the other end. Now they say if you don't have a degree, you may as well start flipping burgers now. And not a 2 year degree, 4 years or more. flip, flip, flip.
I'm disgusted. Where is the school for the unremarkable child who just wants an education in something that he is interested in? Something that offers him options that may be similar to what he already likes? Daily I get offers from colleges all over the place, NY, VA, MD, VT, CT, CO and many more to come see the wonderful campus. And for 30+ thousand dollars a year, plus housing, you can enjoy a great education. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I'm just not going to do that to my kid. Or myself. State school will be just fine by me. And then there is the whole application thing... god help us. Just tell me where to send the damn check! WTF is this BS about essay's and crap? Really? Its' not frigging Harvard.
This is only going to get worse, I assure you. The only good news is that Himself is way more calm and hip about the process. Yay! He didn't get my genes there. There is hope for him.
