Fiddling with numbers

I keep seeing things about the salaries of WI school teachers. They make a piddling average of $50,000 plus health and dental (if you believe John Stuarts #'s) or $41,600. for the average HS teacher from the site I looked at. That sounds pretty low, but you have to look at it relative to the other costs in the state. Houses in WI average $152,000. Reg. Nurses average $50,000.

To compare, the average teacher in MA makes $67,500. (09 figure) and the average house price is $285,300. The average Reg. nurse gets $62,400. according to the figures I can find. Which seems kind of whacked if you ask me.

So always remember folks, figures lie and liars figure. And it's all relative. I'm not saying that the teachers make too much, I'm just saying that throwing a figure out there and saying it's too little may be inaccurate too.

Which doesn't really have anything to do with collective bargaining, which is what the debate right now is really all about. Sort of.
