Day by Day.

In a few hours we are off to go see "Godspell". I've only seen the play done once before in high school, and Himself has never seen it so it should be fun. Then it's off to find dinner somewhere.

My father got out of the house today. That's a good thing. Caught up with his buddies. It's good that he is getting out. I think half his problems are that he's cooped up all day.

Last night I went to Bunko. I almost didn't. I had everything planned out, made the Brie ahead of time, took my shower, and left extra time to get to my father's and back. But when I arrived at my father's, I realized his house key was on my work keychain. I had switched it over yesterday because I took the VW instead of the Subi, and forgot. He couldn't come to the door, and there is no 'hide a key' that I know of. So, bullshit to say the least, I drove back home, took what I thought was the house key off the ring, put it on my keychain, and off I go again. When I get there, I don't have the key. By now my eyes are ready to pop out of my head and there is blood dripping out my ears. I call home and ask Ryther if the key is on the table, and it is. Somehow I took the wrong key off the chain. I drive home AGAIN. Get the right key, double and tripple check that I have the right key, then check again before road raging it back to my father's. I of course do no tell him all this when I get in because if he had laughed at my stupidity, in the state I was in, it would probably have resulted in patricide.

When I did get home, I was already late for Bunko, but I know they don't start right off the bat. I sat down and had two slices of pizza and calmed down a bit, and did go. I had fun, thankfully. I didn't win, which is okay. It was fun to catch up with the neighbors, who I never see anymore.

A week or so ago I was talking to my father about the VW and all it's problems, and whether we were just going to trade it in or not. He was against the idea and thought we should keep it as long as it runs. Then yesterday I had to take him for a hair trim (not that he has much left) and he rode in the VW. That's when he asked me "what the hell is that smell". lol. That 'smell' is the famous or infamous melted crayon smell that appeared in our car after about a year of ownership. It's not melted crayon, there have never been crayons in the car, but that's the closest we can get to a name for it. It smells so much at times that when Ryther walks in, he carries the odor with him. Seinfeld anyone? We've had the cabin air filter changed, nothing seems to help. I've looked it up on line, and other VW owners have this 'odor'. Just another reason to love this car. I will say one thing for the car. When it goes, it GOES. After lead footing it back and forth yesterday, I do feel the difference in the get up and go that it has compared to my Subi. But I'll still take my car over this one. I'd rather go in the snow and through the rain rather than zoom zoom zoom. (or sputter sputter sputter, as the case may be.)
The moral of the story is that I wonder if the next time I mention trading in the VW, if my father will be so insistent we keep it?
I just looked up the smell again and popular opinion says its the sound deadening material under the floor. I wonder if my brother would like to do me a favor and rip it out for me?
