About a year or so ago, while picking up the trash, I spotted something on the road, and being the pack rat that I am, I went out and picked it up. It turned out to be a large 12x12 plastic, magnetic backed 'sign', like something someone would put on a work truck maybe, but instead of being a sign, it was a vintage photo of a woman. I had no idea who this woman was, but she looked like she was from the mid to late 1800's. Since it was a photo, she had to be at least Civil War or later. I looked on line for some famous women in the are but none of the photo's were of her.
Well, today in the Ledger, they had a section on the South Shore Women's Heritage Trail with a number of famous women and I thought, 'I wonder if she's there'. Well sure enough, I saw a woman who looked like her, but wasn't quite right, flipped the paper open and on the fold of the paper was my girl! Mary B. Eddy. Founder of the Christian Science movement. Mystery solved. So now when people ask who she is I can finally give them an answer.
