Foggy start to a long haul of snow.

This morning's inch of snow quickly melted and mushed as it turned to rain. Then there was a period of fog as the air warmed. Now it's back to below freezing so the roads will be a pinch slick. Decent tomorrow, followed by a storm predicted to dump (up from 6") 10-14 inches of snow on us. Well that's a joy. And more to follow on Sunday, but how much then no one is saying. And of course I don't run the back hoe, although I may have to learn this winter if things keep up like this. With all the moisture, this could get very old very fast. I have to clear out the tomb some more on Friday and get the snow blower read. I can at least use that with no fuss or muss, hopefully. Let's just hope there is a lull in the funerals. The guy that's been doing the digging also plows in the winter, and it's plowing first, digging second.

What, if any, difference is there between a Ponzi scheme and a pyramid scheme? The Ponzi scheme that has just recently collapsed is going to take a huge toll on a lot of charities in the area apparently. Hospitals and other institutions received a lot of contributions from some wealthy families that were hit hard by this. Really unbelievable. I heard even Steven Spielberg has been hit by this.
Of course Ryther mentioned that our whole economy is a giant Ponzi scheme, which I agree with. It only works when it continues to grow, and once it stops growing, it's like a house of cards. That's a bit of an oversimplification, but basically I think that's what we are experiencing now.

Also on the subject of donations, I got a notification that $25.00 of my perpetual LJ is going to be donated, and that I could pick the organization to donate to. After three pages, I found a charity that I give to fairly regularly, more often in the spring when my cat brings home a live bird. Yeah, I gave the money to the Wildlife Center. They do enough for me.

My one main task that I had to get done today was to get the wreaths for the cemetery and put them up. There are only 10 to do, not like the geraniums in the spring (300ish). Of course it was raw and damp and cold, but they got done. Not like the year we had to do them in 2 feet of snow.

The 'winterized house' had people in it the other day. I wonder if it's being or has been sold.

I can't believe that they finally closed the Adam Walsh case. I don't quite get why now, but hey, it's good that they could do it. I never liked that the father, John Walsh got the job as host of America's Most Wanted. I felt that it was like he was profiting from his son's death. Now, years later, I don't feel that way anymore. I guess maybe he did make a career out of his son's death in a way, but at the same time, he has helped to bring horrible people to justice, so I can forgive him for that. I also can't believe that Adam Walsh was murdered 27 years ago. Wow, an eternity.

I picked up our Christmas tree today when I got the wreaths. Its a different kind of tree than usual. It had firmer needles. We'll see how it goes.

money, christmas, murder, weather, crime
