Well, so much for the auto save on this one.
Today we took the train in (our first ride on the Greenbush line) to the Museum of Fine Arts. We went to the El Greco exhibit, which was interesting and fun, but not quite to my taste exactly. You wonder how people could live with all those religious images inundating them? The portraits of the King and his family where stunning to see in real life though. It's just astounding how much detail goes into the paintings. Little tiny lines over and over to make the patterns of cloth or the lace of a cuff. It's mind boggling.
We also poked around other exhibits in the museum. They have some really great paintings, although I wish they had more from the impressionist period. That seemed kind of lacking. They do have some spectacular John Singer Sargent paintings. My favorite for today is Mrs. Charles Inches. http://www.artchive.com/artchive/S/sargent/sargent_inches.jpg.html
This doesn't do her justice at all. When you see the painting in real life, she looks like a real woman looking out at you. Even thought he painting isn't photo real or anything, the face has so much life in it, it's just incredible.
Himself came along with us and was pretty good. I'm sure it can get boring at times, and he was disappointed there wasn't more modern sculpture, apparently that is what he likes.

Yesterday we went to see WALL-E, the new Disney cartoon movie. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Not sure what I expected, but it wasn't much. I really enjoyed the way the robot displayed it's emotions. Really cute. Fun story too, if a bit unrealistic. Ok, a lot unrealistic.

Also spotted yesterday at my in-laws were two praying mantises. They were small, only about an inch and a half, but I got a picture of both and will post them later.

Saturday I went out to get the mail from the mailman and he handed me one envelope. I said "that's all?" and he said something like he wanted to give me that first, so I turned it over and it was the George W. Bush 'stimulus' check. I thought they had forgotten us.  Well, gee wiz.  Everything will be all right if I just run out and spend that puppy.  I'm going to save it just for spite.

I think that is going to have to be it for now. I'm starting to get behind on my stickies but I don't seem to have time to write. Too much time in the garden or poking around the yard. Tisk tisk.
