Detail orriented

I forgot to mention that I did see three bees yesterday on my crocuses. Very full of pollen.

Also, the issue of whether police need to be on traffic details or whether it can be flagmen. Usually around this time, some cop ends up stopping some suspect while he is doing his detail, thus making it look like cops are crime fighting go getters while they are supposedly directing traffic. Lets see if that happens again this time. I can tell you from years of experience that town police who earn GOBS of overtime (with minimum hours whether they work or not) are not only not effective as guardians of safety, but they are actually often road hazards themselves, often causing more chaos and confusion than if they were not there at all.
Police on traffic details rarely look at the traffic they are supposed to be directing, or at the very least keeping watch over. They are 9 out of 10 times talking on a cell phone, and I doubt it's about serious police work. They often have their backs TO the traffic, and their faces are either looking up at the workers or down at the manhole. Or they are chatting with a cop in a cruiser who has stopped to chat. I've seen police give the wrong signals and nearly cause an accident, yet they get mad at you if you don't do exactly what they tell you, even when you know it's wrong and dangerous.
I cant speak for the state police, since when they are on a road detail, they generally don't seem to get out of their cars. Which to me indicates it is only necessary to have a car with flashing lights on it and any Joe jerk can drive it.
Usually when these issues come up, the police take it personally and act like you are against law and order and if you hire flagmen, like most of the rest of the US does, it will compromise the safety of the public. How do those other states survive? I guess if you cut the rate of pay these police got and brought it down to the amount of money that flagmen got, you might have fewer police interested in doing the 'work'. I think it's long past time to use flagmen on traffic details and let police do things like investigating crime and stopping bad guys. But money talks and it makes little common sense.

police log, money, bees, waste, crime
