Martino and I took Scout and Wyatt to the off-leash park again today. I didn't write about it here, but last Tuesday I brought them out for the first time. I got a big eye opener last night about dog training. I've always wondered how people can let their dogs get aggressive with them and tolerate it, and moreover, how a good dog got that way to begin with.

I guess I should back the train up and give backstory.

I found out from my dad a few days ago that Molly, their australian sheperd, attacked Otis, their... small black something. She savaged him bad enough to puncture an artery in his leg, and dad had to rush him all the way to Calgary to get him treated. When I went out to ride over the weekend I was again met with frustrating rows of ice in the arena. I didn't fancy even walking over the horrible footing again. Things were starting to look up. I had a great day on sunday - a good ride, relaxing evening at home - Randi came and visited and helped me eat much of the left over chocolate fondue from the party. My dog Lady has had a lump on her back for several years. We figured it was just an Old Dog Lump, some type of benign tumor. A couple weeks ago it became visible through her hair, covered in dry skin but gross and mushy underneath. Then, inexplicably it absessed and burst ( Read more... )

Lady is nearing the end. For the last 8 months or so she's had her good days and bad days, but over all she's been doing really well. For those of you I don't know personally, Lady is my dog.
