I want to talk a little bit about writing plausible rare pairs. This is partly inspired by getting a comment on one of my recent fics in which the commenter said that although the story involved a pairing that didn't especially grab her, she had read it because she liked one of the characters very much, and that she'd enjoyed it and I had managed ( Read more... )

Most of you who will read this post read fanfic, at least occasionally. When you've read a story, what do you do? You can move on to the next web page, or you can leave a comment for the author. There's a certain amount of dispute as to the etiquette of commenting on fic. To what extent is it expected, what kind of commentary, and whether the ( Read more... )
