Burnt pans and literary confusion.

Why are scrambled eggs classified as a simple food? Give me a pan, some eggs and oil and I'll single-handedly prove to you that nothing is simple in the culinary world. I bought some eggs because I fancied something simple (ha!) and tasty. I got the instructions all ready off the internet (therein lies the problem!) and began. One burnt pan later ( Read more... )

Actually, the fact that there has been such a backlash against JR and RB has given me back faith in the British public. And I disagree that JR + RB are less accountable then the broadcasters. All involved are equally guilty of complete misjudgement. And I, for one, believe that apologies that are made solely to appease public opinion are superficial and worthless.

My main problem with the backlash is that only 2 people complained when the thing was broadcasted, but the moment that the Daily Mail covered the story with their usual tactics, there was an outcry. I can't help but think it stinks of hypocrisy and it was just Daily Mail's way of getting back at the BBC who they have openly criticised many times. I do think JR is hideously overpaid though.
Hope things are good in your corner of the globe. You going home for Xmas? :) (Great icon. We joke about that film being a historical document in Gaelic!)

Surely, motives of Daily Mail aside (they're a business, they have nothing personal against the BBC, they just want to sell as many papers as possible) it is better that there was public outcry i.e. public projecting the fact that harrasing [Manuel] through answer phone messages is not acceptable. In the end, it's just below the belt and downright nasty. Rather then the public thinking "Ah, well, it's Johnathan Ross, the rules of being a decent human being don't apply to him ( ... )

And yes, I'm going home for two weeks on the 20th December and I am so excited to be home for Christams! Access to Sky Movies, my Mum's cooking and my little brother/sister's zany company are things I've been missing sooooo much. Plus, I'm planning a get-together with my English school mates that should rock :D

Fair dos. I just have a problem with it all because with everything going on in the world, there was a ridiculous amount of focus on this story which could have been wrapped up neatly and properly without the press making it seem like the devil's work. I also think it was extremely hypocritical of Sachs' grand-daughter to go on about being embarassed and having her private life dug up whilst she gave very personal interviews to tacky tabloids and took her clothes off for Page 3! I do worry that now the Daily Mail will try to kick BBC while it's down and dig up more stuff, like the whole Clarkson thing recently. (I love the irony also of Angus Deyton taking over from JR with hosting the British Comedy awards.)
It's a great film, scared the willies out of me. I prefer Woodward because his performance was actually good and the movie was actually good. Braveheart is awful. It was made to try and get Scots very angry at English people, and worked with a lot of people I know. Scary...
